(QNO) - Early this morning, June 25, the Tam Ky Discovery Marathon 2023 officially began the competition with 4 distances of 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km.
The 42km race took place the earliest when the athletes started at 3am. This was the longest and most difficult race to conquer, but the number of participants was still quite large, up to 250 male and female athletes (the fewest in all events).
With a length of 42km, athletes run through typical landmarks in Tam Ky such as the Monument to Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, Tam Thanh Community Arts Village, Truong Giang River and finish at 24/3 Square.
With a time of 2 hours and 42 minutes, male athlete Le Van Tuan ( Ho Chi Minh City) excellently finished first. Meanwhile, the first female athlete to finish in the 42km event was Hoang Thi Ngoc Hoa.
In the 21km race, 810 athletes started at 4am. As a result, athlete Le Van Thao won the championship with a time of 1 hour and 14 minutes, the female champion was Bui Thi Thu Ha.
The 10km distance attracted 480 athletes to compete and the first male athlete to finish was Bui Tuan Lam; while former national athlete Khuat Phuong Anh won the women's event.
Outstandingly surpassing 590 competitors on the 5km track, athlete Mao Quoc Tien and female athlete Phan Thi Mai Trinh won the championship in this distance.
