Van Du commune aims for socio-economic development in the 2026-2030 period by attracting investment, developing high-tech agriculture, industry, trade, services, and effectively utilizing resources. These are key factors in promoting rapid, comprehensive, and sustainable development for the locality.

Van Du commune currently has 28 villages and neighborhoods with a population of 24,146 people, comprising two main ethnic groups: Kinh and Muong. In economic development, the commune has focused on directing the consolidation and concentration of 752.6 hectares of land for the development of large-scale agricultural models applying high technology; of which 741.1 hectares are planned for concentrated production; and 298.4 hectares apply high technology. Many models with high economic value have been effectively implemented in areas such as Neighborhood 1, Dong Hoi village, such as orange and pomelo models yielding incomes from 350 to 820 million VND/ha/year, guava 320 million VND/ha/year, and pineapple from 250 to 540 million VND/ha/year. Some farms are large-scale and operate efficiently, such as those of Mr. Pham Ba Quynh (Bai Dang village), Mr. Pham Van Sen (Cat Thanh village), and Mr. Nguyen Dinh Long (Tien Quang neighborhood)... Fruit products are produced according to safe processes, certified VietGAP and GlobalGAP, and protected by trademarks, contributing to enhancing competitiveness in the market. Currently, the entire commune has 4 OCOP products that have achieved 3-star provincial standard.

Industrial and handicraft production has experienced significant growth, making an important contribution to economic growth. The number of production facilities and workers in the industrial sector is trending upwards rapidly. It is estimated that by the end of 2025, the entire commune will have 81 industrial production facilities, creating stable jobs for over 700 workers.

Investment in basic construction and socio-economic infrastructure continues to receive attention, resulting in significant changes to the rural landscape. Specifically, in the 2024-2025 period, the commune implemented 67 projects with a total investment of over 330 billion VND from the state budget, focusing on transportation, irrigation, and education . In addition, investment from the people and businesses reached nearly 485 billion VND. Currently, the percentage of paved roads in the commune (excluding national and provincial roads) is estimated at 91.2%, effectively serving the needs of trade and commerce.

According to Le Thi Hoa, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Van Du commune, "To continue developing rapidly, comprehensively, and sustainably, Van Du commune has identified attracting investment and developing trade and services associated with urbanization to build an urban economic corridor along the National Highway 45 and National Highway 217B; building a high-tech agricultural economic zone, digital transformation associated with the development of various types of tourism, especially community tourism and ecotourism in agriculture, as key tasks in the coming time. At the same time, based on the advantages of intersecting with major tourist centers such as Trang An, Cuc Phuong, and Lam Kinh, we will develop tourism routes and destinations focusing on spirituality, community tourism, and ecotourism in agriculture. We will shape the workforce, determining the labor structure towards shifting into the industrial, service, trade, and high-tech agricultural sectors. We will develop concentrated, high-tech agriculture and digital transformation towards an agricultural economy based on value chains, high-value fruit tree groups, and products that meet demand." both domestic and international markets."

In the agricultural sector, the commune strives to achieve a high-tech agricultural zone of 150 hectares or more by 2030, prioritizing the development of high-value crops with local advantages such as oranges, pomelos, guavas, dragon fruit, and pineapples, linked with brand building and the OCOP program. Based on this, it calls for businesses to invest in building processing plants, drying facilities, and packaging plants to enhance value and create a sustainable production-processing-consumption chain.

Regarding industry and handicrafts, the commune continues to create favorable conditions for local production facilities to stabilize and expand their production and business activities. In particular, it ensures security, order, and social safety so that businesses such as the Vietnam-Taiwan Sugar Mill and other operating units can maintain stable and long-term production. It promotes the development of advantageous handicraft industries. It strengthens the mobilization of investment resources, accelerates infrastructure development, and beautifies residential areas towards a green, clean, beautiful, and modern direction, linked to sustainable industrial and handicraft development.

By 2030, Van Du commune aims to achieve an average annual growth rate of 7.0% in the total value of local products; an average per capita income of 73 million VND/year; and to soon complete the goal of becoming an advanced new rural commune.
