According to the plan, the historical site will temporarily close from 12:00 PM on February 16, 2026 (the 29th day of the Lunar New Year) to prepare for New Year celebrations. From February 17, 2026 (the 1st day of the Lunar New Year), the site will reopen to serve the needs of local people and domestic and international tourists visiting during the spring festival.
The daily opening hours are maintained from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. This timeframe is considered suitable for sightseeing and worship, while also allowing visitors to participate in cultural and artistic activities taking place within the monument's grounds – one of the typical historical and cultural destinations of Hanoi .

The highlight of the Tet activities at the historical site continues to be the Spring Calligraphy Festival – a traditional cultural event that attracts a large number of locals and tourists every year. During the festival days, many unique cultural and artistic activities will be organized in the Inner Sanctuary, Ho Van Lake, and Giam Garden.
Visitors to the Temple of Literature – National University during this time can participate in receiving calligraphy blessings for the new year, enjoy traditional art performances, and experience a cultural space rich in national identity. The activity of giving calligraphy blessings at the beginning of spring not only signifies a wish for good fortune, wealth, and success in the new year, but also contributes to preserving and promoting the cultural values of studiousness and the tradition of respecting teachers in Vietnam.
To alleviate traffic congestion around the historical site and ensure the safety and convenience of visitors, the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giám Cultural and Scientific Activities Center has developed a plan for vehicle parking during the Spring Calligraphy Festival.
Accordingly, a free parking area will be set up at 9 Trinh Hoai Duc Street (Hang Day Stadium area), operating from February 17th to 22nd, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily. The establishment of this free parking area is expected to help reduce illegal parking around the historical site during peak periods.
For motorbikes, parking areas are located in designated zones within the Garden of the Guardians, operating from February 14th to March 1st, 2026, from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM daily. All parking areas are organized according to traffic flow management plans, ensuring security, order, and fire prevention.
According to Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the Cultural and Scientific Activities Center of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giám, organizing Tet celebrations at the historical site not only meets the needs of people visiting and enjoying the spring festivities but also contributes to honoring the tradition of studiousness and preserving and promoting national cultural values.
"Through the Spring Calligraphy Festival and art programs, we hope to widely spread the positive values of our heritage, while promoting the image of the capital's historical sites to friends both domestically and internationally," Mr. Le Xuan Kieu emphasized.
"This year's vehicle parking management is being implemented under the direction of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports , the People's Committee of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam Ward, and in close coordination with the Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center. The comprehensive preparation, from the operational plan to traffic management and security, is expected to contribute to a safe, civilized, and culturally rich spring season at Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam," said Mr. Le Xuan Kieu.
