Thousands flock to Rajamangala Stadium, security tightened at SEA Games opening ceremony

More than 50,000 people flocked to Rajamangala Stadium to attend the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games. All were guaranteed the highest level of security by the host country Thailand.

The opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games took place at 7:00 p.m. on December 9 at Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

However, according to records, from about 1-2 pm, thousands of people poured here.

People lined up to go through the stadium's security check gate.

Security was tightened before, during and after the opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games.

Security forces are deployed heavily.

Police dogs were mobilized to ensure security for the SEA Games opening ceremony.

According to the script revealed by the press, the opening ceremony was presided over by Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen.

The opening ceremony consists of five main performances, each recreating the journey to the origin of the SEA Games, arousing the passion for competition, demonstrating cultural solidarity, demonstrating the spirit of sportsmanship and finally honoring regional friendship, carrying the common slogan of this year's Southeast Asian Games: "We are one".

After the ceremony, there was a festival with performances by top Thai artists. Among them were the appearance of the very famous Thai-born K-Pop singer Bam Bam, rappers F.Hero - Tong Twopee and Thai-born Belgian singer Violette Wautier.

Besides, the appearance of many top Thai artists and the special performance of Muay Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek will certainly make a strong impression.

Finally, the SEA Games torch lighting ceremony was kept secret until the last minute, expected to create a big surprise for viewers.

As the SEA Games opening hour approached, thousands of people were still lining up outside the stadium.

At the opening ceremony , the Vietnamese sports delegation is expected to attend with about 200 members. The two flag bearers are Le Thanh Thuy and Le Minh Thuan. The Vietnamese sports delegation attending the 33rd SEA Games has 1,165 members, including 842 athletes, 189 coaches, 19 experts, competing in 47/66 sports, with a total of 443/573 events, aiming to win 90-110 gold medals.
