The project to build Ring Road 2.5, Dam Hong - National Highway 1A section, 1.3 km long, is invested in the form of BT (build - transfer) with a total investment of more than 1,300 billion VND. The project started in 2014, expected to be completed in 2017 but quickly fell into a situation of prolonged delays.

By 2020, the project had to be suspended when only about 40% of the volume had been completed because the contract had not been extended and the revised feasibility study report had not been approved.

After more than a decade since the groundbreaking date, in May 2025, the project was officially restarted with the completion milestone set for the first quarter of 2026. When put into operation, Ring Road 2.5 will not only help reduce traffic congestion in the southern area of Hanoi but also open up the driving force for socio -economic development for the entire region.

According to VTC News Electronic Newspaper reporters, the appearance of the frontline area has changed significantly compared to the time of re-construction.

At many locations, the road surface has been leveled, machinery is operating continuously, and workers are divided into groups to handle the final sections of roadbed.

To ensure the project is completed on schedule, the contractor mobilized nearly 40 engineers and workers to work in three shifts. Many items were constructed overnight by the contractor.

The contractor representative said that in addition to the road surface, the sidewalk system, trees and technical infrastructure items are also being urgently deployed.

Each construction shift is required to maintain measures to limit dust, clean up materials and ensure safety for residents, because this is a densely populated residential area with many businesses along the route.

In parallel with package 1, the construction package of L3 bridge over Lu river (package 2) is also being accelerated. According to Hanoi People's Committee, L3 bridge is the most important "technical node" of the entire project, determining the ability to open the route. Workers and machinery are being increased to the maximum to ensure the progress of girder installation and structure completion.

At the end of the route, the underpass connecting Ring Road 2.5 with Kim Dong Street, a project with a total investment of more than 700 billion VND, 890 m long, has now reached about 70% of its volume.

This is the most complex part of the project, as the tunneling must be carried out while the railway above is still operating normally. The contractor said special construction measures, including ground reinforcement and 24-hour vibration monitoring, are being applied to ensure absolute safety.

When the entire project is completed, Ring Road 2.5 will help relieve one of the longest-standing traffic congestion points in the south of Hanoi.

Not only does it reduce pressure on Nguyen Trai and Giai Phong routes or Giap Bat bus station area, the new road also opens up an important connection fund, creating conditions for existing and newly formed residential areas to develop synchronously.
