Yesterday, November 28, the Enterprise Development Institute - Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (KH&CN) of Lang Son province organized a workshop with the theme: "Brand development associated with Intellectual Property and traceability technology, an inevitable trend in the digital age".

According to Mr. Luong Minh Huan, Director of the Institute for Enterprise Development (VCCI), in the context of globalization, a brand is not only a sign of product identification but has become a strategic asset of enterprises and localities. At the same time, intellectual property plays an important role in protecting brand value, helping enterprises affirm ownership and create sustainable competitive advantages.
“As the market increasingly demands information transparency, product safety and traceability, the application of digital technology to track, authenticate and prove product quality becomes an inevitable requirement,” said Mr. Huan.

Sharing the same opinion, Mr. Tran Quoc Anh , Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Lang Son province believes that, in the context of strong digital transformation, when the market increasingly requires high quality, transparency of origin and brand protection, brand development associated with intellectual property and traceability technology becomes an inevitable trend.
Speaking about Lang Son province, Mr. Tran Quoc Anh commented that this is a mountainous province with great potential for agricultural specialties, indigenous cultural products and border trade. In recent times, Lang Son has encouraged businesses and cooperatives, especially small and medium enterprises, to invest in digital transformation, apply science and technology and innovation to improve management, production, productivity and product quality.
At the same time, the province has promoted the development of information technology infrastructure, digital data and electronic platforms, creating conditions for businesses and cooperatives to trace origins, digitize supply chains and provide transparency in product information, meeting the requirements of the modern market.

“Combining digital technology with intellectual property protection not only protects intellectual property but also increases product value, supports exports and increases competitiveness for businesses, cooperatives and local producers,” said Tran Quoc Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Lang Son province.
Mr. Pham Van Tho, Chairman of ACTIV analyzed that tracing the origin of goods means applying a technology to manage and monitor the entire process of product formation, circulation and consumption with the goal of helping businesses and consumers verify the authenticity of products, fight against counterfeit goods and increase transparency in the supply chain.
“Traceability is an important part of the National Digital Transformation Program,” said Mr. Tho, adding that traceability is an inevitable trend in today’s integrated economy, a tool for all parties to have appropriate tax policies and prevent tax fraud.

Talking about the advantages of Lang Son, Mr. Tho said that this locality has many famous typical products that have been recognized as OCOP products such as: Trang Dinh black jelly, Cho Bai dried fruit, Loc Binh pho noodles, peaches, custard apples, tangerines, chestnuts, oranges, grapefruits, strawberries... However, the application of management technology to enhance brands in Lang Son has not been given due attention and implementation.

According to Mr. Bui Tien Quyet, Expert of Intellectual Property Management Department, National Intellectual Property Institute (Ministry of Science and Technology), in the digital age, brand, intellectual property and traceability are no longer three separate factors but have become a unified system, reinforcing each other and creating a foundation for businesses to improve their competitiveness.
“Developing a brand associated with intellectual property and applying traceability technology not only helps businesses develop sustainably, but also meets new consumer trends, market regulations and requirements of the global supply chain,” said expert Bui Tien Quyet.
