Located 70km southwest of Da Nang city center, Bho Hoong village has more than 700 people, mainly Co Tu people. Operating since 2013, Bho Hoong Community Tourism Village has service groups such as: traditional cuisine , tang tung da da dance, musical instrument performances - love songs, tour guides, crossbow shooting performances and teaching, weaving, homestay accommodation; security service groups, brocade weaving and traditional wine making...
Keep the Co Tu soul
Mr. Bling Bloo' (70 years old) said that in the past, the village's livelihood was closely tied to slash-and-burn farming, life was precarious, dependent on nature and the forest seasons. At that time, as Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Song Kon commune (old), he went to each household to encourage people to participate in tourism, but everyone was hesitant.
But when the first groups of tourists sat by the fire, listened to gongs, and tried Tavat wine, everyone understood: tourism is creating wealth from culture and forests. Up to now, all 50 households in the village are involved in tourism. Each person has a job: the elderly perform gongs and tell village stories; women weave brocade and cook; young people lead tourists on expeditions, bathe in streams, and shoot crossbows.
“I participate in musical instrument and weaving services, my wife makes brocade, and my children and grandchildren also participate in gong dancing. The lives of the people here have improved and become more stable. Tourism helps the people here to be more connected to the community, everyone is aware of protecting the environment, the village roads and alleys are clean, no one litters because “the village is a destination”. Instead of just knowing how to do agriculture and grow upland rice, we have become more and more confident on the new journey”, Mr. Bling Bloo' shared.

For Bho Hoong to develop as it is today, it is indispensable for young people to contribute, they have more access to the outside world, and better understand the needs of modern tourists. Among them, Ms. Dinh Thi Thin, a daughter of the Co Tu ethnic group, is still tirelessly "awakening" the village with her passion and desire to preserve culture.
In 2013, when the project “Enhancing tourism activities in inland districts in Quang Nam province” came to the old Dong Giang mountain area, Ms. Thin volunteered for the village. In the early days, she had to learn how to operate tours, translate, organize art performances, and take care of accommodation for tourists...
With perseverance and enthusiasm, Ms. Dinh Thi Thin sowed the first seeds for local tourism and gradually helped people change their mindset. She wrote estimates, prepared documents to request support, and invited businesses to connect and invest in the village. She also opened English classes for children in the village and communication classes for adults, helping people become more confident when talking to guests.
In 2023, Ms. Thin opened Homestay Acu, the first private homestay in Bho Hoong with a small house in the middle of the green forest. By 2025, Ms. Thin established Co Tu Cultural Journey Travel Company Limited to operate tours for domestic and foreign guests. With her acumen, Ms. Thin has become a "bridge" to bring Co Tu culture to the world, contributing to changing the face of the village.
Aspiration to reach far
Mr. Do Huu Tung, Chairman of Song Kon Commune People's Committee, said that Bho Hoong Community Tourism Village has truly created a driving force contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality. This place has the potential to continue to develop further thanks to preserving many traditional cultural features of the Co Tu ethnic group and enjoying 3 national intangible cultural heritages: tang tung da da dance, the art of singing and talking and brocade weaving.

In addition, Kon River has many beautiful natural landscapes such as A Pang hot spring, Ra Lang waterfall, large timber forest, Bhlo Ben stream... These are attractive destinations for tourists who love nature and exploration. Bho Hoong community tourism village becomes the "nucleus" of motivation for the locality to continue to improve and awaken the tourism potential in other villages such as Ra Lang, Bhlo Ben...
According to the People's Committee of Song Kon commune, in the coming time, the locality will continue to strengthen the work of preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the Co Tu associated with tourism development; step up the work of promoting and advertising tourism, calling for investment in various types of eco-tourism and community tourism; organize famtrip programs to connect and search for potential partners and travel businesses. Focus on training, fostering, improving knowledge, basic foreign language communication skills... for participating households and tour guides. Refresh services to suit the actual needs of customers.
