Sa Dec flower village, traditional craft colors in the heart of a young city
Up to now, Sa Dec flower village has existed and developed for more than 100 years. This place is considered the "capital" of ornamental flowers in the West; at the same time, it is a unique cultural and tourist highlight, contributing to shaping the Dong Thap brand on the Vietnamese tourism map.
Located along the gentle Tien River, Sa Dec flower village currently has more than 600 hectares of ornamental flowers, with nearly 3,000 households following the profession. Every Tet holiday, the flower village seems to light up in the yellow, red, and purple colors of millions of flower pots, creating a brilliant picture stretching from the garden to the alley. What is special about Sa Dec is the way of growing flowers on trellises, raising the pots high to avoid flooding, creating a unique landscape that cannot be found anywhere else.

When it was first established, the flower village was just small fields, and people only grew a few varieties of flowers to serve local needs. However, today, Sa Dec has grown to become a major center of ornamental flowers in the country. The local government has invested in infrastructure, built model flower roads, and encouraged farmers to apply high technology in production. Many new models have been deployed such as automatic irrigation, greenhouses, and value chain linkages, etc. to help increase productivity and stabilize output. Many flower varieties imported from France, Thailand, Japan, the Netherlands, etc. have been boldly tested by people, contributing to Sa Dec ornamental flowers conquering domestic and foreign markets.
In recent years, Sa Dec has chosen a new direction of developing experiential tourism based on the foundation of craft villages. From ornamental flower gardens, Huynh Thuy Le ancient houses, Sa Nhien - Cai Dao route, creative landscape construction to homestay systems, garden cafes... creating a "Sa Dec identity" that is both traditional and modern, adding vitality to the century-old craft village.

If Sa Dec flower village is colorful, Dong Hoa Hiep ancient village brings a feeling of calmness and nostalgia. The village has more than 10 ancient houses from 100 to 150 years old, with a unique Vietnamese - French - Chinese architectural style, combined with the traditional Southern garden house style: five rooms and three wings, Dinh shape, yin-yang tiled roof, elaborately carved pillars and beams...

Ranked as a national architectural and artistic relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2017, Dong Hoa Hiep ancient village, along with Duong Lam ( Hanoi ) and Phuoc Tich (Hue), are considered the three most typical ancient villages in Vietnam. Currently, some ancient houses in Dong Hoa Hiep such as Mr. Tran Van Lau's house built in the 19th century (now inherited by Mr. Tran Tuan Kiet) and the houses of Mr. Vo Van Vo, Phan Van Duc, Le Van Xoat... are still quite intact.

The special feature of Dong Hoa Hiep ancient village lies not only in its architecture, but also in the riverside garden space, where agricultural life, fruit gardens and Southern customs are still preserved intact. People do not follow massive development, but choose to do community tourism - slow but sustainable. Coming here, visitors spend the whole day "living slowly" and enjoying the simple, peaceful pace of life, listening to the sound of chopping wood, the sound of children playing on the tree-lined village roads and receiving the gentleness, genuine hospitality typical of the Western people. Therefore, along with Sa Dec flower village, Dong Hoa Hiep ancient village is a prominent tourist destination that has made an important contribution and created the increasing attraction of tourism in Dong Thap province.

According to statistics in the first 11 months of 2025, Dong Thap welcomed 5.8 million visitors, an increase of 3.1% over the same period (including 560,000 international visitors), with total tourism revenue reaching 3,340 billion VND. The province is striving to bring visitors from near and far an unforgettable impression when they come to experience Sa Dec flower village and Dong Hoa Hiep ancient village, contributing to making tourism an important economic sector of the locality.
From December 3 to December 7, 2025, the 6th Dong Hoa Hiep Ancient Village Cultural - Tourism Festival will take place in Cai Be commune with the theme "Memories of the Ancient Village". This is not only a tourism promotion activity, but also a strong effort of the government and community to preserve a special cultural space, where time seems to slow down in the middle of the Mekong Delta.
In Sa Dec, from December 27, 2025 to January 4, 2026, the 2nd Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Festival will take place, with many activities such as: Sa Dec flower space; display of 1,000 flower and ornamental varieties; "Heritage Land" space; hot air balloon activities; live show "Hundred years of flower village fragrance"; Mapping projection space; display, Techmart workshop applying technology to enhance the value chain of flower and ornamental products; conference connecting trade of flower and ornamental industry... The goal of the festival is to attract 500,000 visitors to visit and travel.
