Unveiling the Nissan Teana 2026, a powerful upgrade to "compete" with the Toyota Camry

The new Nissan Teana 2026 has just had its front end refreshed, inspired by the same brand sedans as the N6 and N7 in China.

The future of the Nissan Altima in North America remains uncertain, while its Chinese twin shows no signs of stopping. Known as the 2026 Nissan Teana in overseas markets, the model is produced by a joint venture between Nissan and Dongfeng.

This D-class sedan is currently preparing for a mid-life upgrade in the billion-people market. Although Dongfeng Nissan has not officially confirmed the Teana's upgrade, images of the car have appeared on the website of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. These images have revealed quite clearly the upcoming appearance of the new Teana.

Through that, it can be seen that the car takes design inspiration from the company's new electrified sedan models. The most noticeable change is at the front. Here, the car is redesigned with darker LED headlights, combined with a wider grille, integrated with new daytime running lights and more sophisticated motifs.

In addition, the 2026 Nissan Teana also has a front bumper with larger air intakes, similar in style to the new N6 and N7 models. These changes are to modernize the Teana and create visual uniformity with Nissan's new electrified vehicle lines.

On the sides, this D-class sedan is almost unchanged, except for the wheel rims. Depending on the version, the car will be equipped with two-tone painted rims with contrasting upper parts, creating a more premium feel.

At the rear, the car is equipped with dark horizontal LED taillights with the Nissan lettering glowing in the middle, once again reminiscent of the N6 and N7. The trunk lid and rear bumper have been streamlined in design while the exhaust pipes have been hidden, giving a neat look when viewed from behind.

Thanks to the new design details, the overall length of the Nissan Teana 2026 has increased by 14 mm, reaching 4,920 mm. Meanwhile, the wheelbase remains the same at 2,825 mm. Currently, the interior image of this model has not been announced. However, it will not be surprising if the car is renewed on the dashboard, added a digital clock cluster and upgraded technology to stay competitive.

The most powerful version of the Nissan Teana 2026 still uses a 2.0L, turbocharged, 4-cylinder gasoline engine, producing a maximum capacity of 240 horsepower. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via an Xtronic CVT automatic transmission with 8 simulated speeds. Notably, the car also has a new engine option in the standard version, producing a maximum capacity of 142 horsepower.

The 2026 Nissan Teana is expected to officially launch in the Chinese market later this year. The current version of the car is priced from 179,800 - 239,800 yuan (629 - 839 million VND). The car will continue to compete with the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry in the billion-people market.
