Recently, coach Philippe Troussier has encountered many difficulties in the process of building the Vietnamese team. Even the VFF could not avoid criticism for the decision to choose coach Troussier.
The two matches against Indonesia on March 21 and 26 will have a big impact on the future of Coach Troussier. If they lose all or only get a draw, the chance to pass the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup will be considered closed for the Vietnamese team. On the sidelines of the recent sponsor announcement ceremony, VFF Vice President in charge of professional affairs - Mr. Tran Anh Tu said: " The Vietnam Football Federation always puts its trust in the head coach, and vice versa. The Vietnam team strives to finish second in the group to enter the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup. The next two matches with Indonesia will decide whether the Vietnam team can reach that goal or not ."
According to Mr. Tu, VFF and the head coach had a meeting to discuss plans. The Vietnamese team's force is facing difficulties as many players are injured. In fact, coach Troussier has also determined that after the 2023 Asian Cup, the team will face difficulties in terms of force due to injuries.
" However, Mr. Troussier highly appreciated the spirit and determination of Vietnamese players through many tournaments. However, we still have faith in the Vietnamese team ," Mr. Tran Anh Tu added.
