On September 30, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the National Assembly Delegation of Hau Giang province met with voters before the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly. Speaking at the meeting with voters, the National Assembly Chairman informed about the socio -economic situation and activities of the National Assembly in the coming time, including the 8th Session which will open on October 21.

The National Assembly Chairman said that the 15th National Assembly has 3 more sessions (the 8th, 9th and 10th sessions) to end its term. According to the National Assembly Chairman, there has never been a term in which our country has faced as many difficulties and challenges as this term when facing the Covid-19 pandemic that has lasted for more than 2 years. In addition, the world situation has many complicated, unpredictable developments, beyond forecasts, affecting the world economic situation in general and Vietnam in particular.

Storm No. 3 and the floods following the storm have seriously affected 26 northern provinces and cities. Preliminary damage to public and private property is estimated at over VND81 trillion, reducing the country's GDP growth rate by about 0.15%. This is a huge loss beyond expectations.

According to the National Assembly Chairman, in the face of difficulties and challenges, the 15th National Assembly has made efforts to innovate the thinking of law-making to create favorable conditions for people and businesses. “Comrade General Secretary and President To Lam has directed that law-making must come from practice, while doing, learn from experience, not be perfectionist, not hasty; take people and businesses as the center and subject; promptly remove difficulties and obstacles to clear resources, to ensure the resolution and overcoming of bottlenecks; all for the socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security” - the National Assembly Chairman informed voters, at the same time emphasizing the spirit of promoting decentralization and delegation of power in the direction that the Central Government assigns to localities to do, localities decide and localities take responsibility.

“Boldly let the province and local authorities decide and take responsibility based on the provisions of the law. Apply it in a way that ensures the development conditions of the locality. We must promptly detect and resolve current difficulties and problems, from the commune, district to provincial levels, especially promoting socio-economic development and taking care of people's lives. Whatever the commune can do, do it immediately, the district can do it immediately, the province can do it immediately, do not rely on the Central Government. This is a very new ideology and guiding viewpoint,” the National Assembly Chairman noted.

Informing voters further, the National Assembly Chairman said that the Central Committee has established Subcommittees: Document Subcommittee, Personnel Subcommittee, Logistics Subcommittee to serve the 14th National Party Congress. Localities are also actively preparing for Party Congresses at all levels to take place next year.

The National Assembly Chairman requested the leaders of Hau Giang province to pay attention to implementing Directive 35 of the Politburo on leading Party Congresses at all levels towards the National Party Congress. From now on, we must focus on content and personnel; at the same time, we must take care of local socio-economic development. We must not neglect socio-economic targets because we are worried about the Party Congress.

Also at the meeting with voters, Ms. Le Thi Thanh Lam - Deputy Head of the Delegation in charge of the National Assembly Delegation of Hau Giang province, on behalf of the National Assembly Delegation of the province, reported on the expected content of the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly.

According to Ms. Le Thi Thanh Lam, the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly will open on October 21 and is expected to close on November 30. The session will be held in 2 phases (Phase 1: from October 21 to January 13; Phase 2: from November 20 to November 30). At this session, the National Assembly will consider and pass 16 laws, 2 resolutions and give opinions on 12 draft laws. In addition, at the session, the National Assembly will consider and decide on socio-economic issues, the state budget, supervision and other important issues.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, representatives of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the provincial National Assembly Delegation and leaders of Hau Giang province presented 200 gifts from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to union members and workers in difficult circumstances in the area.
