
The Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology monitoring delegation worked at the Cao Bang Provincial Center for Disease Control.
According to the report of the Center for Disease Control, since the beginning of the year, the epidemic situation in the province has been basically controlled, recording a number of common infectious diseases such as: 2,207 cases of flu; 1,629 cases of diarrhea; 451 cases of bacillary dysentery; 140 cases of Adenovirus; 91 cases of chickenpox; 4,357 cases of measles... During the flood period, medical examination and treatment facilities recorded 294 cases of fever of unknown cause (of which 36 cases tested positive for influenza A/B virus, 3 cases tested positive for Leptospira). The Center has developed and advised the Department of Health to issue documents directing and implementing environmental sanitation, disease prevention and control, and water treatment after storms and floods in the province according to the guidance of the Ministry of Health to proactively deploy response measures to ensure they are appropriate to the actual situation in the locality. Coordinated with units in the health sector to spray disinfectants to prevent epidemics after storms and floods on over 320,000 square meters in 22 communes and wards in the province, distributed 44,340 water disinfectant tablets and instructed 4,014 households on how to treat water, and distributed 1,990 medical bags to households.

The work of testing for pathogenic microorganisms and biosafety is maintained and strictly implemented according to the regulations on biosafety in the laboratory. All officers doing testing are trained and instructed on biosafety and handling laboratory incidents. Calibration of equipment such as: biological safety cabinets, refrigerators, centrifuges is carried out according to regulations, no biosafety incidents occurred in 2025. The Provincial Center for Disease Control proposed and recommended to the monitoring team a number of contents such as: supplementing and perfecting mechanisms and policies related to climate change, providing specific instructions in the health sector for units to implement effectively; regularly opening training courses for staff working on climate change at medical units; providing professional support in biochemical testing for the provincial level.

Previously, the delegation surveyed and worked with Hoa An Commune Health Station on the Station's operations after the merger of the 2-level local government. Currently, the Station has 1 main station and 3 Health Points with a total of 22 officials. The Station has implemented medical examination and treatment activities, disease prevention, expanded vaccination, National Target Programs... achieving the assigned plan targets. At the same time, after implementing the 2-level local government, the Health Station is still in the process of adapting to changes in operational work such as: changes in human resources, some newly reassigned officials have not been updated with knowledge and professional training on preventive medicine, facilities need to be arranged to ensure vaccine storage and preservation, reporting software and operations need to be synchronized with reality.
Concluding the working session with Hoa An Commune Health Station, the delegation of the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology requested that in the coming time, the unit continue to effectively implement disease prevention and control work, maintain the implementation of expanded vaccination, overcome difficulties and limitations in facilities and equipment, regularly send officials to participate in training and professional training in preventive medicine...
At the working session with the Center for Disease Control, the monitoring delegation highly appreciated the results achieved in disease prevention and control and microbiological testing activities in the province in the past time, especially ensuring medical work and epidemic prevention after storms and floods.
