During the working visit to Australia, the Vietnam Customs Department and the Australian Border Protection Agency held bilateral talks. Leaders of the two sides discussed the results of cooperation in recent times, especially in the fields of information sharing, border control coordination and implementation of the signed Investigation Cooperation Plan.

The two sides agreed to continue promoting key areas of cooperation such as customs modernization, application of advanced technology, risk analysis and improving the efficiency of goods control, in order to meet new challenges of international trade.

During the talks, the two sides signed a Declaration of Intent to enhance cooperation between the Vietnam Customs Department and the Australian Border Protection Agency. This document lays the foundation for future cooperation initiatives, including information sharing, technical assistance, capacity building and customs control coordination, in line with the development orientation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

On the sidelines of the bilateral talks, Deputy Director General Luu Manh Tuong had working sessions with a number of key ABF units, and visited and worked with a number of units and professional management models of the Australian Border Protection Agency, including the Service Dog Training Center. These activities contributed to enhancing mutual understanding and promoting priority areas of cooperation such as information sharing, aviation and postal control and professional capacity building.

The visit and working session of Deputy Director Luu Manh Tuong has contributed to strongly consolidating the cooperative relationship between Vietnam Customs and the Australian Border Protection Agency; at the same time, creating an important foundation for the two sides to continue expanding cooperation in modern customs management, control and prevention of smuggling, meeting the requirements of the new context and contributing to the sustainable development of the bilateral relationship.
