On the evening of December 6, at the Bahrain World Exhibition Center, the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2025 Ceremony took place with the participation of representatives of international tourism organizations, management agencies, experts, businesses and the press from more than 100 countries and territories.
At the ceremony, WTA officially announced Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark ( Tuyen Quang ) as the world's leading cultural destination in 2025.
This is the first time Tuyen Quang has had a destination honored in the group of world-class cultural awards. This achievement is an important milestone, affirming the stature, competitiveness and increasingly prominent position of the province's tourism on the Vietnamese and international tourism map.
Mr. Phan Huy Ngoc, Chairman of Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee, said the title is the pride of the locality, as well as the recognition of the international community for the efforts to preserve, conserve and promote the heritage values that the province has pursued for many years.
"This is also the driving force for Tuyen Quang to continue aiming to make tourism a key economic sector in the coming time," Mr. Ngoc said at the event.

Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark possesses outstanding values based on three pillars: geology, culture and community life.
Recognized by UNESCO since 2010, this place preserves more than 550 million years of Earth's evolutionary history, once a vestige of ancient oceans with a fossil system spanning from the Paleozoic, Mesozoic to Cenozoic.
Massive karst blocks, paleontological sites, caves and sedimentary layers layered over hundreds of millions of years have created a rare "open-air geological museum" in the world.
Besides its geological value, Dong Van Stone Plateau is also a unique cultural area of 17 ethnic groups living together. Indigenous cultural space is expressed through traditional architecture, rituals, folk knowledge, music, language and crafts, creating a multi-layered cultural depth.
The strong connection between nature and the community over thousands of years has formed a unique cultural ecosystem, contributing to creating a distinct appeal for the destination.
Established in 1993, World Travel Awards is considered one of the most prestigious award systems in the world tourism industry. After more than three decades, WTA has become a scale reflecting the quality of service, attractiveness and influence of destinations on the international tourism map.
