According to a report by Sensortower and Gamigion Analysis, the app economy is forecast to reach a size of $750 billion by 2030 globally. The Asia -Pacific region leads this growth, becoming the world's largest and most dynamic growth center in terms of mobile app downloads and revenue.
The strong momentum was fueled by a fourfold increase in app downloads over the past five years, particularly thanks to the rise of emerging markets like Vietnam.
According to data from AppMagic, Vietnam is currently leading the Asia- Pacific region with a 65% increase in revenue from the game and application segment, recording the fastest growth rate in the region. Application developers in Vietnam are gradually asserting their position on the global technology map.
Also according to the Google Play & Android 2024 Impact and Contributions for Vietnam report, in 2024, games and applications developed by Vietnamese programmers reached more than 6 billion downloads, with 5.7 billion coming from international users.
This means that nearly 12,000 downloads of Vietnamese applications are recorded every minute. The Google Play ecosystem plays an important role in promoting the growth of Vietnam's digital export economy .
Through this platform, domestic developers have brought in more than VND2 trillion in revenue from international users, while creating about 490,000 direct and indirect jobs and related industries, including the equipment manufacturing sector (OEM).
At the recent Google Apps Summit 2025 event, Mr. Marc Woo - General Director of Google Vietnam said: "Vietnam is not only an "emerging market" but also a global application powerhouse. The impressive export revenue achieved by domestic developers has demonstrated the outstanding talent of the Vietnamese programming community."

At the event, Google experts also revealed the top 10 tips to help developers achieve success in the application field in the Asia-Pacific region.
One of the most prominent themes is the rise of AI adoption, with 90% of global game developers now integrating AI into their workflows. Developers using generative AI tools like Gemini API and Google AI Studio for backend tasks like source code review or asset testing are saving significant time on other complex tasks; for example, Indian e-learning platform Entri has saved up to 40% of its time by applying AI to these tasks.
Google also guides developers on how to personalize game experiences with generative AI, using solutions like Vertex AI to dynamically generate content and update in real-time.
Another important topic highlighted by Google is revenue expansion and user growth. Developers are advised to secure revenue streams by incorporating in-app purchases (IAP) and in-app advertising (IAA).

Google also suggests developers test new channels like YouTube Playables, which allows millions of users to play web versions of games directly on YouTube without downloading them. At the same time, developers can take advantage of accelerator programs and specialized courses to build their skills, especially in key areas like game design and global scaling.
The remaining tips encourage developers to continue focusing on improving their apps and ad quality, while investing in developing original creative ideas to maximize value from users in a sustainable way./.
