On December 1, in the capital city of Havana, the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025), affirming the loyal brotherhood and comradeship between Vietnam and Cuba.

According to VNA correspondent in Havana, the event was attended by Politburo member and Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, Senior Lieutenant General Álvaro López Miera; Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central Agriculture and Forestry Commission of the Communist Party of Cuba, José Monteagudo Ruiz; Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan; Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam Phan Thi Thang, along with many local officials, diplomatic corps and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Cuba.

Ambassador Le Quang Long said that 65 years ago today, Cuba became the first country in the Western Hemisphere to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam, laying the foundation for an exemplary and rare relationship in the history of international relations - built on the ideological harmony and aspirations of national hero José Martí, President Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castro, who shared the same revolutionary ideals.

During the most difficult years, Cuba stood side by side with Vietnam with a pure heart and unconditional help. The words of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro: “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to give even its blood!” remain a symbol of true international solidarity.

Ambassador Le Quang Long affirmed Vietnam's steadfast stance in supporting Cuba, calling for the removal of unilateral blockade and embargo measures against Cuba and removing Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

Ambassador Le Quang Long expressed his belief that the Vietnam-Cuba relationship will continue to enter a new stage of development, focusing on cooperation in economics, trade, investment, renewable energy, digital transformation, biotechnology and healthcare, tourism, education and people-to-people exchange.

With the steadfast brotherly affection, the wise leadership of the two Parties and the continuation of the young generation, the Vietnam-Cuba friendship will certainly become increasingly stronger, more practical and effective.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba also coordinated with the Vietnam News Agency to open a photo space, displaying 20 typical photos about the history of relations between the two brotherly nations over the past 65 years./.
