
Comrade Jorge Luis Broche Lorenzo, Secretary of the Central Committee and Head of the Central Economic and Production Department of the Communist Party of Cuba, and Comrade Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Member of the Central Committee and Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Department, co-chaired the workshop.
In his opening remarks, Comrade Nguyen Thanh Nghi stated: The workshop is a concrete step in implementing the cooperation agreement signed between the two Committees in 2024, and also in implementing the contents of the Vietnam-Cuba Joint Statement of September 2025 on strengthening theoretical exchanges and sharing experiences in leading socio-economic development. Through this, it affirms that Vietnam always values the special solidarity and friendship with Cuba, especially in the context of both countries implementing major strategic directions on reforming the growth model, developing a multi-sectoral economy, and deep international integration.
At the seminar, Comrade Jorge Luis Broche Lorenzo shared Cuba's experience in stabilizing the macroeconomy, restructuring production, improving the overall balance of the economy, developing state-owned enterprises, increasing labor productivity, and promoting the role of science and technology in innovating the development model; he also shared efforts to overcome difficulties caused by the embargo. He emphasized boosting production in priority sectors, strengthening decentralization while tightening discipline and order, and implementing fiscal and monetary policies to control inflation and ensure social security.

The presentations from Vietnam vividly reflected Vietnam's outstanding efforts and achievements over 40 years of socio-economic reform and development under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam .
Specifically, the focus is on analyzing the direction of innovation in the growth model towards in-depth development, shifting from quantitative growth to growth based on productivity, science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation; promoting the development of economic sectors in accordance with the spirit of the Party's 13th National Congress Resolution and Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW dated May 4, 2025, of the Politburo on the development of the private economy. It also aims to maintain macroeconomic stability, consolidate major balances, and enhance the resilience of the economy; while proactively and actively implementing a comprehensive and in-depth international integration policy consistent with national interests.
In addition, delegates shared experiences in leading institutional reforms, improving development policies, promoting the proactive role of localities and businesses, fostering regional linkages, and developing the digital economy, green economy, and circular economy.
During the discussion, both sides focused on exchanging and clarifying the leadership, direction, supervision, and strategic coordination roles of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of Cuba in economic management; methods for implementing economic restructuring programs linked to innovation in growth models; solutions for responding to global economic fluctuations and addressing challenges related to inflation and global trade volatility; and building a strategic advisory organizational structure to ensure comprehensive leadership by both Parties in the new context.
In his concluding remarks at the workshop, Comrade Nguyen Thanh Nghi highly appreciated the frank and open exchange among the delegates; affirming that the content shared at the workshop would help the two Committees better understand each country's economic development orientation; and at the same time open up new avenues of cooperation in research, strategic planning, and mutual support in implementing socio-economic development tasks.
