The 27th Asian Youth Chess Championship taking place in Bangkok, Thailand witnessed an impressive performance by the Vietnamese youth chess team.
This year's tournament took place from November 20 to 30, 2025, gathering 697 players from 33 national federations. It became one of the largest youth playgrounds in the continent for the U8 - U18 age groups. In the rapid chess event, the Vietnamese team won 8 gold medals.
Outstanding individual achievements belonged to young players Dau Khuong Duy (U14 male) and Duong Ngoc Uyen (U14 female). In the U14 male group, Khuong Duy showed extremely high performance with an undefeated record, winning 6 points (5 wins - 2 draws) after 7 games, surpassing the Chinese player thanks to the extra index to win the gold medal.

Similarly in the U14 women's group, Duong Ngoc Uyen played with great courage and confidence, earning 6.5 points (6 wins - 1 draw). Ngoc Uyen excellently overcame a strong opponent from India to step onto the highest podium.

In addition to individual titles, the Vietnamese youth chess team also won 6 gold medals in team events for different age groups.
In the men's category, the young players proved their dominance with the championship in U18 (with IM Bang Gia Huy, FM Dang Anh Minh, FM Do An Hoa), U14 men (with IM Dau Khuong Duy, CM Nguyen Nam Kiet, CM Nguyen Manh Duc), U8 men (with Vu Thanh An, Huynh Thien An, Pham Xuan An).
The Vietnamese women's team is not far behind with championships from U18 women (with WCM Nguyen Le Cam Hien, WFM Nguyen Ngoc Hien, Nguyen Ha Khanh Linh), U16 women (with WCM Dang Le Xuan Hien, Nguyen Anh Bao Thy, Mai Hieu Linh), and U10 women (with AFM Tran Hoang Bao An, Vu Thi Yen Chi, Nguyen Ngoc Xuan Sang).
According to the schedule, the Vietnamese youth chess team will also participate in the standard chess event (90 minutes + 30 seconds per move) with 9 matches from November 22 to 29. The tournament will then end with the blitz chess event (3 minutes + 2 seconds per move) on the afternoon of November 29.
