According to VNA correspondent in Laos, on the afternoon of November 27 in the capital Vientiane, a ceremony was held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the twinning cooperation between Vietnam's 108 Military Central Hospital and the Lao People's Army's 103 Central Hospital.
Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Lao Ministry of National Defense ; representatives of the two hospitals; representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos and a large number of medical officers and soldiers from the two countries.
Speaking at the event, Major General, Professor, Doctor Le Huu Song, Director of the 108 Military Central Hospital, emphasized that the two hospitals are large-scale and prestigious training, scientific research and medical examination and treatment centers of the armies and people of the two countries.
Since the official establishment of the comprehensive cooperation program in 2005, the relationship between the two units has been continuously strengthened, developed extensively and achieved many practical results.
Annual cooperation programs are seriously implemented, helping to improve the professional capacity, scientific research and treatment skills of the medical team; many new techniques and modern technologies have been effectively transferred.
Over the past 20 years, many experts from the 108 Military Central Hospital have worked long-term at the 103 Central Hospital to support teaching and technology transfer, contributing to the successful treatment of many difficult cases.
At the same time, the 108 Military Central Hospital has trained 206 doctors, 6 nurses and 2 engineers from Laos. This is a vivid demonstration of the practical and close cooperation between the two sides.
In recent years, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense has supported the Lao People's Army's 103 Central Hospital to deploy a telemedicine system directly connected to Vietnam's 108 Central Military Hospital, supporting consultation and handling of many complicated cases, while digitizing 100% of bilingual Vietnamese-Lao medical records.
108 Military Central Hospital has also examined and treated more than 2,600 patients who are Lao officers, soldiers and people, with a recovery rate of over 95%.

Professor-Doctor Le Huu Song affirmed that the achievements are not only the result of professional cooperation, but also a testament to the special solidarity, trust and affection between the two armies and the two peoples of Vietnam and Laos.
On behalf of the Lao Ministry of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Vongsone Inpanphim, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Lao People's Army, highly appreciated the cooperation between the two Central Hospitals of the Lao and Vietnamese Armies over the past 20 years.
This cooperation has helped to strengthen professional capacity, build prestige and reputation, and create trust with the leaders of the Party, State, and the Lao people of all ethnic groups. This is a practical contribution to fostering the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam, which is increasingly fruitful and sustainable.
In the context of complex developments in the world and region, with both opportunities and challenges for peace, stability and security, comprehensive cooperation between the Lao and Vietnamese armies as well as between the two hospitals mentioned above needs to be strengthened more deeply than ever.
The two sides need to continue to support each other in the spirit of "the older brother knows two, the younger brother knows one; the one who goes first guides the one who goes after," in order to build an increasingly strong force capable of responding to all situations.

On this occasion, Senior Lieutenant General Vongsone Inpanphim awarded many Labor Medals of Class 2 and 3 of the Lao State; along with Friendship Medals of the Lao State and Government to the collective and individuals of the 108 Military Central Hospital of Vietnam for their outstanding achievements in supporting medical examination and treatment for Laos, contributing to further deepening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States, two Armies and people of the two brotherly countries of Laos and Vietnam.
At the end of the ceremony, Vietnam's 108 Military Central Hospital and the 103 Central Hospital of the Lao People's Army signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for the 2025-2030 period, affirming their commitment to continue accompanying, developing and nurturing the special Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam relationship towards new achievements in the field of military medicine./.
