Vietnam-Laos agree to effectively implement the 2026 defense cooperation plan

Leaders of the two countries' defense ministries agreed on key cooperation orientations for 2026, especially in border protection, restoration of historical relics, and coordination in organizing important political events.

According to VNA correspondent in Laos, on December 2 in the capital Vientiane, General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense , met with Senior Lieutenant General Khamliang Outhakaysone, Central Committee member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Minister of National Defense.

Also attending were Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense.

At the meeting, General Phan Van Giang respectfully sent his best wishes on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Laos' National Day and expressed his joy at the fact that over the past 50 years, under the wise leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Lao Army and people have united, overcome many difficulties and challenges, achieved many important achievements in the cause of building and defending the country, and actively contributed to peace , stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

General Phan Van Giang believes that the brotherly country of Laos will continue to gain many new achievements in the cause of innovation, building a peaceful, independent, democratic, unified and prosperous Laos on the path of socialism; affirming that the Party, State, Government , Army and people of Vietnam always remember the support and assistance of the Party, State, Government, Army and people of Laos in the past struggle for independence and national unification, as well as in building and protecting the country today.

Senior Lieutenant General Khamliang Outhakaysone expressed his condolences for the great loss of life and property of the Vietnamese people due to recent storms and floods; congratulated Vietnam on its outstanding and comprehensive achievements in recent times and affirmed that Laos always remembers and appreciates Vietnam's wholehearted support and assistance and its enormous contributions to Laos in the past struggle for national liberation and reunification, as well as in the current cause of national renewal, construction, protection and development.

Senior Lieutenant General Khamliang Outhakaysone sincerely thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for supporting and accompanying the Lao Ministry of National Defense in successfully performing the task of participating in organizing the 50th Anniversary of Lao National Day.

Based on the 2026 cooperation plan signed between the two Ministries of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang and Senior Lieutenant General Khamliang Outhakaysone agreed to coordinate and direct agencies and units to proactively develop plans to implement cooperation contents, ensuring quality and efficiency, first of all, preparing to serve the successful organization of the Party Congress of each country, consolidating and embellishing revolutionary historical relics; strengthening trade connections, expanding investment markets, especially in border areas.../.
