Vietnam wishes to promote cooperation with Portugal in all fields.

At the meetings, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac and Portuguese partners focused on discussing the situation in each country and bilateral relations.

During his visit and working visit to Portugal, Mr. Phan Dinh Trac, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, met and worked with the Vice President of the National Assembly; General Secretary of the Portuguese Communist Party; Leaders of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice and Deputy Supreme Prosecutor General.

During the meetings, the two sides exchanged views on the situation in each country and bilateral relations; experiences, guidelines, policies and work in corruption prevention and control; judicial reform; and the organization of judicial, procuracy and prosecution agencies.

Mr. Phan Dinh Trac affirmed that Vietnam wishes to promote cooperation with Portugal in all fields, especially politics, economics - trade, culture and education, and justice; suggested that the two sides continue to coordinate well in organizing activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and soon hold the first meeting of the Political Consultation.

Mr. Phan Dinh Trac asked Portugal to support the remaining EU countries in promptly ratifying the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement and the European Commission to promptly remove the yellow card on Vietnamese seafood; and to continue to pay attention and create more favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Portugal to integrate more deeply into the host society.

The Portuguese side welcomed the visit; highly appreciated Vietnam's achievements in socio-economic development and foreign affairs and its role and position in maintaining peace, security, stability and development in the region and the world; expressed the desire to expand cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism, labor, marine economy, green economy and renewable energy; and was ready to be the gateway to bring Vietnamese goods into Europe, while promoting sustainable infrastructure development projects, healthcare, and education under the Global Gateway initiative of the European Commission and the European High Representative in Vietnam.

On this occasion, comrade Phan Dinh Trac attended the opening ceremony of the Vietnamese Embassy in Portugal.
