Attending the event were: Deputy Foreign Minister Ngo Le Van, Turkish Ambassador to Vietnam Korhan Kemik, Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, representatives of embassies, international organizations, friends and people of the two countries.

In his opening remarks, Turkish Ambassador to Vietnam Korhan Kemik said that despite the geographical distance, the people of the two countries share the same patriotic spirit. The leadership and ideals of the late Turkish President Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and President Ho Chi Minh played a key role in the independence and development of each country. On this solid foundation, Turkey and Vietnam have found a deep connection and have continuously promoted cooperation since establishing diplomatic relations in 1978.

According to the Turkish Ambassador, mutual trust has paved the way for significant progress in economic cooperation. Bilateral trade exceeded the US$3 billion mark last year, making Vietnam one of Turkey's important trade partners in Southeast Asia. Turkish businesses are active in Vietnam in the fields of infrastructure, manufacturing, high technology and logistics, reflecting the common goal of sustainable growth.

Ambassador Korhan Kemik affirmed: "The real strength of Türkiye-Vietnam relations lies in people-to-people exchanges. The two countries share values of hospitality and respect for traditions – the foundation for meaningful cultural and educational cooperation."

This year, the Turkish Embassy is organizing the Turkish Cuisine Week, bringing the rich flavors of the country to the Vietnamese public. The Embassy is working to establish the Turkey-Vietnam Friendship Association under the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) and is implementing a project to translate Turkish children's books into Vietnamese to enhance cultural understanding among the younger generation.

In the field of education, the Turkish government scholarship program continues to play an important role in connecting the people of the two countries. Thanks to this, many Vietnamese students have studied in Türkiye, bringing back not only knowledge but also lasting friendship.

Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Ngo Le Van emphasized that Turkey – with its rich history and beautiful landscapes, from the peaceful capital Ankara to the vibrant city of Istanbul, where the Bosphorus Strait connects two continents – always holds a special place in the hearts of the Vietnamese people.

“We admire Türkiye not only for its magnificent cultural and architectural treasures such as Hagia Sophia or Topkapi Palace, but also for its persistent spirit of innovation and progress,” the Deputy Minister said. He expressed his joy and admiration for the “Turkish Century” vision and its commitment to green transformation through initiatives such as the Hydro Valley Project, which demonstrate the determination and foresight of a country that looks to the future with confidence and hope.

“Vietnam always attaches importance to its relations with Türkiye, not only as a partner with significant potential but also as a sincere and trustworthy friend,” the Deputy Minister emphasized. He recalled the image of the Atakule Tower in Ankara being lit up in the red of the Vietnamese flag on the occasion of Vietnam’s National Day on September 2, considering this a “strong and beautiful gesture of friendship.”

“This evening, as we celebrate Türkiye’s National Day, the colour of that friendship shines once again – not from a tower, but from the hearts of all of us here. May the light that once lit up Ankara now shine warmly in Hanoi, reflecting the sincere affection and mutual respect between our two peoples,” he said.

According to Deputy Minister Ngo Le Van, after 47 years of friendship and cooperation, the two countries continue to strengthen cooperation through all channels of the Party, State, Parliament and people-to-people exchange. The official visit to Türkiye by Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai in September affirmed mutual trust and opened up new horizons for bilateral cooperation.

The two sides are working towards a bilateral trade target of US$4 billion, while Turkish investors continue to bring their experience and innovation to Vietnam. There is still great potential for cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, logistics, green energy, digital transformation and cultural exchange.

Türkiye's New Asia Initiative and “Far Countries” strategy, in which Vietnam is identified as a key partner, promises to take bilateral cooperation to new heights, strengthening the bridge between Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

On the basis of friendship and mutual understanding, along with the will of the leaders and people of the two countries, Deputy Minister Ngo Le Van expressed his belief that the Vietnam-Türkiye relationship will continue to develop strongly, becoming a model of cooperation between two countries with a common history of resilience and vision for peace and prosperity.
