Vietnam actively participates in the 26th ASEAN Army Chiefs' Conference

According to a VNA reporter in Singapore, at the invitation of Major General Cai Dexian, Commander of the Singapore Army, a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnam People's Army led by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, attended the 26th ASEAN Army Chiefs' Meeting (ACAMM-26) in Singapore from November 25-28 and attended the closing ceremony of the 33rd ASEAN Army Rifles Competition (AARM-33).

At the ACAMM-26 Conference with the theme "Building Regional Cooperation in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief", the Army Commanders of 10 ASEAN countries discussed measures to promote cooperation to jointly respond to climate change, natural disasters and military-civilian cooperation in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions... The Army Commanders all shared the view that humanitarian assistance and disaster relief is a noble common responsibility of the Army forces of ASEAN countries, for a region of peace , stability, cooperation and development. In that spirit, the conference adopted the ACAMM-26 Joint Statement on "Building Regional Cooperation in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief".

Speaking at the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia highly appreciated the theme of the ACAMM-26 Conference in the context of climate change and natural disasters that are becoming increasingly complex and unpredictable, with rainstorms, floods, landslides, inundation and storms occurring at a rapid and strong level, causing unpredictable damage to people and property; at the same time, emphasizing that the Army is the first and direct force to deploy activities of natural disaster prevention and control, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. The head of the Vietnamese delegation shared the experiences of the Vietnam People's Army in responding to natural disasters and catastrophes, affirming that the mission of disaster relief and humanitarian assistance is the common voice of humanity, noble ethics for humanity, and the unspoken but sacred command of the Army of ASEAN countries.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia emphasized that ASEAN Armies need to continue to increase exchanges and share experiences in preventing and adapting to climate change, coordinate to improve comprehensive disaster response capacity and maximize existing ASEAN multilateral and inter-sectoral cooperation mechanisms, contributing to affirming ASEAN solidarity and realizing the Vision of "One ASEAN, One Response".

The head of the Vietnamese delegation also affirmed that as a responsible member of the international community and ASEAN, the Vietnam People's Army has been and will continue to participate with the highest determination in cooperation activities between ASEAN armies in general and between ASEAN armies in particular to effectively respond to all challenges, for a region of peace, stability and sustainable development.

Within the framework of the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia had bilateral meetings with Heads of Delegations from Singapore, Thailand, Brunei and discussed on the sidelines with Heads of Delegations from ASEAN countries on measures to promote Army cooperation with other countries. At the meetings, Heads of Delegations of all countries highly appreciated the position and role of the Vietnam People's Army and the results of bilateral cooperation; wishing to promote cooperation in the following areas: Exchange of high-level delegations, training, cyber security, humanitarian assistance - disaster relief, support for activities organized by the parties, in accordance with the needs and capabilities of each side.

At the closing ceremony of AARM-33, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia met and praised the outstanding achievements of the Vietnam People's Army team (32 medals of all kinds, including 12 gold medals).
