From May 28-29, in Kunming city, Yunnan province, China, the Meeting of the Chairman of the Vietnam-China Joint Land Border Committee took place.
The meeting was co-chaired by Comrade Nguyen Thi Huong, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Subcommittee in the Joint Committee, Deputy Head of the National Border Committee, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and Comrade Vuong Cam Phong, Chairwoman of the China Subcommittee in the Joint Committee, Deputy Director of the Border and Maritime Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. Also attending were representatives of relevant ministries, sectors and localities of the two sides.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed and reached many common perceptions on the 2024 work plan of the Joint Committee, focusing on coordinating the organization of activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-China Land Border Treaty and the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-China Land Border Demarcation Protocol, the Agreement on the Vietnam-China Land Border Management Regulations, the Agreement on Border Gates and the Vietnam-China Land Border Gate Management Regulations (3 legal documents on the Vietnam-China land border); the current status of the pilot operation, the plan, and the roadmap towards the official operation of the Ban Gioc Waterfall Scenic Area (Vietnam) - Duc Thien (China) in 2024.
In addition, some other related contents include: Effective coordination in implementing 3 legal documents between the two sides, including continuing to resolve disagreements and problems at the border in accordance with relevant regulations and agreements; coordinating to promote the implementation of cooperation and development initiatives in border areas; discussing the approval of border works; promoting the activities of Border Representatives and other related contents.
In the coming time, the two sides agreed to continue to closely coordinate within the mechanism of the Vietnam-China Joint Land Border Committee, to do a good job of managing and protecting the border and border gates in accordance with the three legal documents on the Vietnam-China land border and related agreements, to promote cooperation and development in the border area, and to jointly build a border between the two countries of peace , friendship, stability, cooperation and development.
