Taking place from November 8 to 13, the working trip of the Vietnamese sports delegation has a dual strategic significance: attending the 15th National Sports Congress of China and signing important cooperation agreements to improve sports achievements and public health in Vietnam.

Director Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet and the delegation of officials from the Vietnam Sports Administration attended the Opening Ceremony of the 15th National Sports Congress of China.

The first major activity of Director Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet is to attend the Opening Ceremony of the 15th National Sports Congress of China in Guangdong Province. This year's Congress has the theme "Lively Games - Dynamic Bay Area" and has special historical significance as it is the first time it is co-hosted by three regions: Guangdong - Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macau (Greater Bay Area), demonstrating China's spirit of integration and coordinated development.

Participating in the largest national sporting event of China, a regional and world sports powerhouse, is an opportunity for the Vietnamese delegation to learn from experience in organizing large-scale events, especially in the context of the Games focusing on the spirit of economical and efficient organization when using about 90% of the competition venues as existing facilities.

The trip has realized high-level cooperation commitments between the two countries. Based on the agreement on sports cooperation for the 2025-2030 period signed during the visit of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping to Vietnam, the main activity was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Guangxi Provincial Sports Bureau on November 10.

The delegation visited the memorial site of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association Headquarters in China.

The signing opens the door to substantive cooperation in athlete training and education, and promotes Vietnam's strategic proposal for China to receive key athletes and national teams to train with provincial teams at the continent's leading training centers. Vietnam prioritizes provinces such as Guangxi, Guangdong, Zhejiang and Yunnan with favorable geographical conditions, similar cultures, reasonable costs and good climate, especially border provinces.

The cooperation program does not stop at training, the Vietnamese side also expressed its desire to focus on promoting scientific research cooperation and developing mass sports.

In terms of academics and technology, the Vietnam Sports Administration has asked China to support and share knowledge, experience and new technology in the application of science to develop sports. This is a preparation step for the signing of a cooperation agreement between the National Sports Training Center (HCMC) and the China Sports Science Research Institute in December 2025 in Nanning, to support the improvement of sports performance and promote sports development for everyone in Vietnam.

In addition, the working trip also aimed at cultural exchange through mass sports. Realizing that Wushu is the traditional quintessence of China and Vietnam has traditional martial arts, the delegation proposed that the two sides coordinate to organize exchange and performance events to promote culture and promote the development of sports tourism.

More importantly, in order to concretize the common perception of the leaders of the two Parties and the two countries, especially the spirit of extensive diplomacy and people-to-people exchange in the common goal of "Six More" (more understanding, more trust, more friendliness, more efficiency, more sustainability and more spread) of Vietnam-China relations, the Guangxi side proactively proposed to organize the 2025 China-ASEAN Open Pickleball Tournament and the first China-Vietnam Cross-Border Super Cup.

The 2025 China-ASEAN Pickleball Open is scheduled to take place in late December. Meanwhile, the first China-Vietnam Cross-Border Super Cup, scheduled to be held annually and start in late February 2026 in Nanning City, Guangxi, will be a professionalized playground for amateur football (grassroots football). With a scale of 12 teams—including 6 teams from Guangxi cities and 6 teams from Vietnam (Quang Ninh, Tuyen Quang, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Hai Phong and Hanoi)—this 11-day tournament will be a vivid demonstration of deepening friendly exchanges and cooperation, while maximizing Guangxi's role as a gateway for China-ASEAN exchanges and cooperation.

Director Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet expressed his high agreement with the invitation from the other side and said that the Vietnamese side would attend. Director Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet's working trip was successful in taking advantage of the opportunity from the 15th National Sports Congress of China, not only to witness a large-scale sporting event but also to consolidate cooperation agreements, especially focusing on knowledge transfer and taking advantage of the top facilities of localities such as Guangdong, which owns two large professional training centers, the Heavyweight Sports Training Center and the Ersha Sports Training Center - the largest training location in the province.
