Vietnam and the United Nations share the desire to put people at the center of the development process.

On November 14 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters, Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu had a working session with Ms. Pauline Tamesis, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Vietnam and Heads of United Nations development agencies to discuss the contents related to important decisions in Vietnam's development fields in the coming time - currently being reflected in the draft documents of the 14th Party Congress and to collect public opinions.

At the meeting, Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu shared the outstanding socio -economic development achievements that Vietnam has achieved in recent times and the strategic development goals in the coming time, affirming the results achieved thanks to the determination of the Party and State, along with many strategic reform decisions, especially in the arrangement of the apparatus and planning of strategic breakthrough resolutions.

Emphasizing the important political significance of the 14th Congress in summarizing 40 years of Doi Moi and shaping the country's development vision, the Permanent Deputy Minister shared the system of carefully prepared documents with many new points, based on an objective assessment of the domestic and international context, while demonstrating the determination to promote rapid and sustainable development and the nation's aspiration to rise up. Some major orientations identified include restructuring the growth model, promoting industrialization and modernization, comprehensive digital transformation, improving the efficiency of the state economic sector, promoting the driving role of the private economy, promoting scientific and technological breakthroughs, continuing to streamline the apparatus and identifying people as the center, subject and goal of all development policies.

Thanking the United Nations for its companionship and support in Vietnam's development process, Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu hopes that United Nations development organizations and international experts will promote their knowledge and experience and contribute constructive ideas to the above orientations.

Congratulating Vietnam on its important socio-economic development achievements in recent times, Resident Coordinator Pauline Tamesis expressed her admiration for Vietnam's aspiration for comprehensive development and long-term strategic vision established in the draft documents. Positively assessing the results Vietnam has achieved in promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Resident Coordinator believes that Vietnam will continue to develop strongly, achieve breakthroughs in the new era of development, affirming its increasingly important role in regional and global cooperation mechanisms.

The United Nations development organizations also highly appreciated Vietnam's many contributions, together with the United Nations and other countries, to solving global challenges, most recently the successful hosting of the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime; at the same time, they hoped that the upcoming Congress documents would more strongly reflect Vietnam's commitments to strengthening multilateralism, the role of the United Nations and international organizations.

Representatives of United Nations agencies in Vietnam also shared many comments and recommendations to support Vietnam in optimizing development opportunities, especially in building financial plans for development, promoting gender equality, protecting vulnerable groups in digital transformation, responding to climate change, promoting cultural - educational - health work to improve the quality of human resources, ensuring social security associated with sustainable development..., associated with the implementation of major policies on this issue in the draft documents of the Congress.

UN agencies expressed confidence in Vietnam's long-term growth, emphasizing that the strategic orientation and policy priorities outlined in the draft documents of the 14th National Congress will continue to create the foundation for deep integration and rapid and sustainable development.

United Nations development agencies are ready to continue supporting agencies and localities in implementing the Party's major orientations on national development through cooperation frameworks and projects.

Appreciating the objective and substantive assessments and suggestions and cooperation initiatives of the United Nations agencies, Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu affirmed that Vietnam and the United Nations share the vision of putting people at the center of all development processes; believing that the cooperative efforts, support and constructive recommendations from the United Nations and international organizations will continue to play an important role in the process of Vietnam implementing its national development goals in the coming time.
