With fervent patriotism, brilliant intellect, and a vision ahead of his time, President Ho Chi Minh absorbed and creatively applied Marxism-Leninism to the specific conditions of Vietnam, formulating the correct path that led the Vietnamese Revolution from one victory to another. The path to national salvation that he discovered was a great creation, a contribution of decisive significance to the destiny of the Vietnamese nation. That is the revolutionary path: National independence linked with socialism.

President Ho Chi Minh founded the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnam National United Front, the People's Armed Forces, and established the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Among these achievements, the victory of the August Revolution in 1945 opened a new era – the era of national independence and socialism in our country – which is not only of great significance to Vietnam but also has profound international implications.

Next, the wheel of history marked the milestone: "Nine years of struggle culminated in Dien Bien Phu. A red wreath of victory, a golden epic," creating the Dien Bien Phu miracle that "shook the world and resonated across five continents." During the protracted resistance war, the Party led the entire nation to create the epic of the Great Victory of Spring 1975, unifying the country – an event of immense international importance and profound historical significance.

Under the light of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, and with unwavering resilience during the difficult years after liberation, the entire nation continued to be fueled by the flame of "Renovation," with profound, comprehensive, and thorough changes, harnessing the wisdom of the entire Party and the entire people. The achievements of 40 years of renovation (1986-2026) have created momentum for the country's development and, at the same time, are vivid evidence affirming the correct and wise leadership role of our Party in the great national unity.

During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh frequently spent time reading, commenting on, and personally reviewing news articles from the Vietnam News Agency (VNA). (VNA archives photo)

President Ho Chi Minh's heart and mind were not only concerned with national affairs and the world revolutionary movement, but also with the mess halls for soldiers, bathrooms for farmers, nursing homes for the elderly, and schools for children... When summer came, his clothes were soaked with sweat, and he thought of the people toiling in the fields; the anti-aircraft soldiers on duty atop the Ba Dinh Hall.

When taking heroine Tran Thi Ly to visit the Presidential Palace garden, Uncle Ho did not lead her on the gravel paths because he knew that stepping on the gravel would affect her wound. Despite being the President, in his daily life, he did everything he could himself, without relying on or depending on others... All these images and details speak volumes: a simple, calm, and self-possessed demeanor, always appropriate to the conditions and circumstances of an exemplary leader.

From the perspective of human history, Ho Chi Minh is regarded as an outstanding internationalist fighter for his contributions to the world and Vietnamese national liberation movements. As the discoverer and leader of the successful proletarian national liberation revolution in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh made a tremendous contribution as the initiator of the proletarian-oriented national liberation struggle in the 20th century. His great contributions "awakened" colonial peoples both in terms of theory and practice of revolutionary struggle.

Fifty-seven years have passed since Uncle Ho departed this world, entering the eternal realm, and it is also fifty-seven years that we have been fulfilling his last will and testament. Like any other human being, he was a finite individual; he completed the logic of his life and bid us farewell with immeasurable love left behind for life, for people, for the nation, and for humanity.

His self-sacrifice and complete dedication to the lives of the people have made him embodied in the nation and live forever in the hearts of humanity. He is not only a symbol of history, but also a driving force guiding action today.

In his Testament, the two most important things he left behind were building the Party and caring for the people. He particularly emphasized the work of Party building under the conditions of the Party becoming the ruling party. He valued unity within the Party, preserving it as carefully as protecting the pupil of one's eye. To achieve this, it is necessary to cultivate revolutionary ethics among cadres and Party members and combat individualism.

According to him, to be truly pure and "worthy of being a leader and a truly loyal servant of the people," every cadre, Party member, Youth Union member, and young person must wholeheartedly be loyal to the country and devoted to the people; they must internalize and enhance "revolutionary ethics, truly be thrifty, honest, upright, and selfless"; they must constantly cultivate their morals like washing their face daily, persistently and diligently throughout their lives; and they must live with compassion and "comradely love for one another."

President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, with its system of views on patriotism and nationalism, on humanity and culture, on humanism and ethics, on socialism and the path to socialism, and many other issues... inherently possesses contemporary significance and value, and its value remains undiminished to this day. The great stature of President Ho Chi Minh has been recognized by the whole world. Therefore, every year, May 19th (his birthday) is always a major cultural event for our people and friends around the world. Especially, the fact that he was honored by UNESCO as a national liberation hero and an outstanding cultural figure of Vietnam speaks volumes about the contemporary significance and value of Ho Chi Minh's ideology. As the leading diplomat and poet Xuan Thuy wrote about President Ho Chi Minh:

A person encompassing ancient and modern times, East and West.

Rich in international influences, yet deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture in every aspect.

Today, every story about Uncle Ho has become an invaluable lesson in character and morality for each of us to learn from and follow. Following Uncle Ho's moral example has become a conscious act of self-reflection, self-correction, and self-cultivation for cadres, Party members, and the masses throughout the country. Uncle Ho's ideology and moral example continue to soar and shine, shaping generations of soldiers, cadres, and people of the Ho Chi Minh era. As Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi once praised: "His name will live on as long as his people. His magnanimity, simplicity, love of humanity, dedication, sacrifice, and courage will inspire future generations."

President Ho Chi Minh was an active reader of both domestic and international newspapers. He cultivated a habit of reading regularly and seriously. He never scheduled meetings with guests at the beginning of his workday; his first task was to quickly browse through the newspapers. Progressive humanity around the world, especially intellectuals and compassionate politicians, have praised and expressed their admiration for Ho Chi Minh's thought and example. Comrade Fidel Castro remarked: "His life is a shining example of the highest revolutionary and humanitarian qualities. Rarely has a leader, in moments of trial, shown such extraordinary wisdom, calmness, courage, selflessness, steadfastness, and bravery... Comrade Ho Chi Minh belongs to a special class of people for whom death is the seed of life and an eternal source of inspiration..."

Speaking about President Ho Chi Minh in the article "The Light of Ho Chi Minh Guides Our Path," General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed, "If the Party's 14th Congress documents define the new development path of the country, then Ho Chi Minh Thought is the light that guides us on that path with unwavering resolve, correct goals, scientific methods, and profound faith in the people." "Ho Chi Minh Thought has become an increasingly important spiritual anchor, a foundation of thinking, and a decisive direction for action."

"

The more significant the historical transition, the more we must uphold Ho Chi Minh's ideology. The further we advance on the path of modernization, the more deeply we must return to the fundamental values he left behind: independence, freedom; the people are the foundation; unity; self-reliance and self-strength; diligence, frugality, integrity, and righteousness; a clean Party; a State serving the people; and development for the people and for their happiness.

Firmly applying and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh Thought, as the sole ruling party leading the State and society in the process of reform and the new era, the Party has formulated policies and guidelines that are consistent with reality and in line with the people's will, emphasizing that "the people are the foundation." Thanks to this, it has mobilized all the potential and strength of the people, achieving great achievements of historical significance, bringing the people an increasingly prosperous and happy life. At the same time, it has consolidated and strengthened the people's trust in the Party, the State, and the socialist system. In the new era of national development, the Party continues to uphold and enrich its true revolutionary nature according to Ho Chi Minh Thought, in which bringing happiness to the people is the Party's highest value: "morality and civilization."

President Ho Chi Minh's life, from his 79 springs until his last moments, was a life of complete and total dedication to the revolutionary cause of our people and the people of the world. He embodies the character and resilience of the nation, the cultural identity of the Vietnamese people from tradition to modernity. Ho Chi Minh's moral example always shines brightly like a torch guiding us on the revolutionary path, for the independence of the Fatherland, and for the freedom and happiness of the people.

With all our boundless love and remembrance, we will forever cherish his teachings, always preserving and promoting the strength of national unity, vigorously unleashing our inner potential, and resolutely realizing our aspirations for development, building a more prosperous and beautiful Vietnam, continuing the heroic epic of the Ho Chi Minh era, and creating a solid foundation to realize the vision of 2045 – the 100th anniversary of the Party's founding – of a strong, prosperous, thriving, and happy Vietnam by 2030.

In the hearts of every Vietnamese person, the slogan "The great President Ho Chi Minh lives on in our cause" is always the voice of conscience, intellect, and emotion.

President Ho Chi Minh will live on forever in our cause!
