On the morning of November 29, 2025, Vietjet completed the ELAC software update for 45/69 aircraft and is continuing to accelerate the update of the remaining aircraft to ensure the entire fleet fully meets technical requirements.

This is a mandatory requirement to ensure operational safety and minimize the risk of flight schedule disruption according to the Emergency Airworthiness Directive effective from 23:59 on November 29 UTC (ie 06:59 on November 30 Vietnam time).

Immediately after receiving the information, Vietjet Air promptly activated technical solutions, mobilizing maintenance teams at the airline's technical facilities in Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai, Da Nang and overseas facilities to implement the update.

On the morning of November 29, Vietjet completed updating 45/69 aircraft on the affected list. The airline is continuing to speed up the updating of the remaining aircraft to ensure that the entire fleet fully meets the technical requirements within the time limit set by the authorities and the manufacturer Airbus.

Vietjet Air representative also confirmed that the airline's operations on November 29 and from November 30 will be running normally, without affecting passengers' travel plans. A representative of Vietjet Air confirmed that the airline's operations on November 29 and from November 30 will be normal, without affecting passengers' travel plans.

Previously, stemming from a serious incident on a flight from Mexico to the US on October 30, due to a data error in the ELAC control system, aircraft manufacturer Airbus requested software and hardware updates for about 6,000 A320/A321 aircraft worldwide .

According to initial investigation results, strong solar radiation damaged important data in this computer, causing the plane to lose control and forced an emergency landing in Florida.

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation and EASA has subsequently issued an urgent directive, forcing Airbus to review the entire A320 fleet. The review results show that the data error in the control system originates from the ELAC software version.

With more than 6,000 aircraft affected by this software, this is one of the largest recalls in Airbus's 55-year history. The incident is expected to cause disruptions to passenger operations globally over the weekend. In Vietnam, according to Airbus statistics, the number of affected aircraft is 63 for Vietnam Airlines and 65 for Vietjet.
