Vietnam Airlines 2025: When safety, experience, and brand take flight together.

The series of international awards in 2025 reflects Vietnam Airlines' clear development strategy: safety as the foundation, customer experience as the focus, and the national brand as the core value on the Asian aviation map.

For many passengers, the "award" given to an airline is demonstrated by very ordinary experiences: whether the flight is on time, whether it is safe, or whether it provides enough reassurance to return again. When these questions are answered positively, passengers will make their own decisions.

In 2025, Vietnam Airlines received nearly 30 awards and was recognized in many prestigious global rankings: the airline was among the Top 25 safest airlines in the world as announced by AirlineRatings.com, was recognized as the leading airline brand in Asia at the World Travel Awards, and its Lotusmiles loyalty program won numerous international awards for loyalty.

What's noteworthy is not just the number of awards, but how these certifications – ranging from safety and experience to branding – piece together to form a clear picture of the company's development path in this new phase.

'The backbone' of safety and punctuality.

In the aviation industry, safety is paramount; there is never any room for "regrettable" or "acceptable" mistakes. Therefore, Vietnam Airlines being ranked among the Top 25 safest airlines in the world in 2025 by AirlineRatings.com means far more than just an ordinary award.

This organization evaluates more than 385 global airlines based on rigorous criteria such as accident records over the past two years, fleet age and size, incident rate, IOSA international safety certification, and pilot training and skills. Vietnam Airlines ranked 22nd, the only Vietnamese airline on the list, and was also named "Asia's Safest Airline in 2025" by Time Out Asia magazine.

This result reflects Vietnam Airlines' enduring commitment to safety over nearly three decades without any serious accidents, and affirms its position in direct competition with major international airlines.

In business practice, safety ratings not only help optimize fleet insurance costs but also serve as a "passport" to penetrate demanding markets like the US or Europe, especially in the corporate customer segment.

In addition to safety, Vietnam Airlines has also been recognized among the most punctual airlines in the Asia-Pacific region by Cirium, a leading global aviation data analytics organization.

In the context of airport infrastructure in many major hubs across the country facing overload pressure, maintaining a high on-time performance demonstrates sound operational management capabilities, strict operational discipline, and consistent personnel training quality.

Lotusmiles - from mileage accumulation to brand "asset"

While safety and operations form the foundation, the customer loyalty program's rewards segment best exemplifies the shift in Vietnam Airlines' competitive mindset.

At the Frequent Traveler Awards 2025, Lotusmiles won two major awards: Best Airlines Elite Benefits and Airlines Program of the Year in the Asia-Pacific region, based on direct feedback from its frequent flyer community. At the World Travel Awards 2025, the program was further honored as "Asia's Leading Airline Rewards Programme 2025," surpassing many strong competitors in the region.

These awards demonstrate that Vietnam Airlines has seriously entered the "loyalty game." Lotusmiles is no longer simply about accumulating miles and redeeming them for tickets, but is operating as an ecosystem with millions of members, closely linked with banks, hotels, and consumer services. Customer loyalty is therefore transformed into a quantifiable brand asset, increasing leverage in partner negotiations and expanding long-term growth potential.

Not only recognized with international awards, Vietnam Airlines also demonstrated its pioneering role by organizing the Vietnam Airlines Loyalty Engagement Forum (VNA LEF 2025). Successfully attracting over 200 guests and featuring 10 speakers who are leading experts in service, technology, and customer management, the event affirmed the national airline's pioneering role in leading the trend of modern aviation services.

From another perspective, the fact that Vietnam Airlines' Premium Economy Class was awarded "World's Most Valuable Premium Economy Class" by AirlineRatings also demonstrates the practicality of its product strategy. As the Asian middle class grows rapidly, the demand for a "higher-than-economy but not yet business-class" segment becomes highly promising – and Vietnam Airlines has correctly identified this opportunity.

Locate the national airline on a regional map.

As 2025 draws to a close, Vietnam Airlines will not only be recognized for its safety and experience, but also for its international brand recognition. At the World Travel Awards Asia 2025, the airline was honored in categories such as Asia's Leading Airline Brand – one of the most prestigious awards in the travel and aviation industry – and Asia's Leading Inflight Magazine for its Heritage magazine, reflecting the quality of its communication and cultural experiences throughout its flights.

The World Travel Awards – often referred to as the "Oscars of the travel industry" – are highly persuasive because their results are based on the evaluations of experts and the international travel community, rather than on registrations. From a brand perspective, being recognized as the "Leading Airline Brand in Asia 2025" is not only a source of pride for the airline but also proof of its competitive position as a national airline on the regional aviation map.

In addition, Vietnam Airlines is also keeping pace with the "green aviation" trend with the AirlineRatings Sustainability Award 2025 and a 9-star environmental responsibility certification - a factor that is increasingly decisive when penetrating deeper into the European and American markets.

As the national airline, Vietnam Airlines also shoulders responsibilities that extend beyond commercial matters. Two Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister for international rescue operations and management innovation, along with being ranked among the Top 100 ESG airlines in Vietnam, demonstrate the airline's development is closely linked to social responsibility and national interests.

Overall, the 2025 awards series paints a picture of Vietnam Airlines entering a new phase: safety as the foundation, experience as the depth, sustainability as the standard, and a highly practical product strategy. More importantly, these are values that are enduring enough to convince passengers to return – through their own experiences.
