The route marks an important step in the strategy of expanding the international network and affirms Vietnam Airlines' role as an aviation bridge between Vietnam and Northeast Asia.
Flight VN337 departed from Osaka at 9:30 a.m. (local time) on July 3 and landed at Da Nang International Airport at 12:25 p.m. the same day, marking the recovery and expansion of air connectivity between Da Nang and the Japanese tourism market.
Vietnam Airlines coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City and related agencies to organize a solemn welcoming ceremony. The first passengers on the flight were presented with flowers and souvenirs to commemorate this special journey.
Previously, flight VN336, operated by a narrow-body Airbus A321 passenger jet, departed Da Nang at 1:10 a.m. on July 3, carrying nearly 100 passengers and landed safely in Osaka at 7:55 a.m. (local time).
On the first flight, Vietnam Airlines organized a flower presentation for the flight crew and souvenirs for passengers, bringing a special and meaningful experience.

At Kansai International Airport, Vietnam Airlines coordinated with partners to organize a solemn opening ceremony with many outstanding activities, marking the official launch of the Da Nang-Osaka route.
In addition, the program also includes a performance of traditional Japanese cultural art, contributing to creating a special atmosphere and attracting the attention of passengers and the media.
With flexible flight schedules and convenient connectivity, Vietnam Airlines expects the new route to effectively serve the needs of travel, tourism, visiting relatives and trade between the two regions, especially the community of about 50,500 Vietnamese people living in Osaka, one of the provinces with a large Vietnamese population in Japan.
Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines said: “The operation of the Da Nang-Osaka route once again marks Vietnam Airlines’ efforts in the strategy of expanding its flight network in the North Asia region. This is not only an opportunity for us to connect more deeply with the world, but also demonstrates our strong commitment to bringing the image of Vietnam closer to international friends.”
Osaka, one of Japan's largest cities, is an important economic, cultural and tourist hub in the Kansai region. Renowned for its vibrant pace of life, Osaka offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity, from ancient castles like Osaka Castle to modern shopping districts like Dotonbori with its delicious street food. The city is also a gateway to explore nearby popular destinations like Kyoto and Nara.
Vietnam Airlines’ opening of a direct flight from Da Nang to Osaka will create great potential for tourism and trade between the two cities. At the same time, this route will also promote economic, cultural and people-to-people cooperation between the two countries, opening up opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to access the Japanese market and vice versa. This is an important step in connecting two rich cultures.
Since 1994, Vietnam Airlines has opened its first flight route to Japan with the Ho Chi Minh City-Osaka route. Up to now, the airline's flight network connecting Vietnam - Japan has increased to 10 with an average of over 120 flights per week from Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City to Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka.
After 30 years, Vietnam Airlines has operated more than 100,000 flights between the two countries, transporting nearly 16 million passengers. The Northeast Asian market, especially Japan, is still one of the most important international markets for Vietnamese aviation with an average growth of 20% per year.
In 2025, Vietnam Airlines plans to open and restore 15 new international routes to many key markets such as Italy, Russia, China, UAE, Japan, Korea, India, etc.
These routes not only promote economic-tourism connectivity, but also promote Vietnam's image to the world, contributing to realizing the country's goal of welcoming 22-23 million international visitors.
