Viettel Quang Tri celebrates 20 years of establishment

This afternoon, October 9, in Dong Ha City, Viettel Quang Tri - Branch of the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group held a ceremony to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its establishment on October 15 (2004 - 2024). On October 15, 2004, Quang Tri Telecommunication Center (also known as POP Quang Tri) - the predecessor of today's Viettel Quang Tri was officially established. From the early days of establishment with many difficulties in terms of facilities, infrastructure, equipment, and means, up to now, Viettel Quang Tri has had more than 500 broadcasting station locations, nearly 20,000 km of fiber optic cable to 100% of communes, wards, and towns across the province, 4G waves have covered remote areas, border areas, and islands, covering up to 98.5% of the population and Viettel 5G waves have officially been present in Dong Ha city since September 2021. Viettel network has truly been the information lifeline, serving security and defense, bringing technology and scientific knowledge to serve customers, people, and the socio-economic development of the province.

From a small enterprise, after 20 years, Viettel Quang Tri has strongly risen to become the number 1 telecommunications - information technology enterprise in Quang Tri province, with an annual revenue of more than 350 billion VND, actively contributing to the state budget, creating stable jobs for thousands of local workers. In addition, the unit also does a good job in poverty reduction, social security, and volunteering in the area.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam highly appreciated the positive contributions of Viettel Quang Tri in the cause of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the province. In particular, many resources have been focused on building and deploying digital infrastructure, digital platforms, digital services to accompany Quang Tri in implementing the digital transformation program on all three pillars including digital government, digital economy and digital society. Thereby, helping the digital transformation index of Quang Tri province to be higher year after year, contributing to bringing the proportion of digital economy to the province's GRDP to an estimated 9.03%, ranking 26th nationwide.

In addition, with the philosophy of "Linking production and business activities with social activities", Viettel Quang Tri has proactively coordinated and implemented many social programs and projects in the locality such as the Program to support poor districts in Dakrong according to Resolution 30a of the Government, contributing significantly to the local poverty reduction work; the programs "Breeding cows to help poor families in the border area", "Heart for children", "School Internet", "For studious children", "Computers for children"; building flood shelters and many other gratitude activities... have been recognized and highly appreciated by authorities and people in the province. Viettel Quang Tri also always accompanies the locality in the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam requested Viettel Group and Viettel Quang Tri to continue to fulfill the commitment "As technology moves forward, no one will be left behind" to resonate with the digital transformation process with Quang Tri, together with the whole country to successfully implement the National Digital Transformation Program. Pay attention to investing resources to develop digital infrastructure, build smart cities, contribute to the development of digital government, digital economy, and digital society in the province.

Proactively research, propose solutions, and provide useful advice to provincial leaders in building a digital transformation strategy for socio-economic development in accordance with the characteristics and situation of the province as well as supporting the improvement of the effectiveness of management and operation of state agencies in the area, especially in the fields of health, education, and administrative procedure reform.

Continue to further improve the quality of the network and services; develop high-tech services and products associated with ensuring network safety and security to meet the increasing needs of people, businesses as well as the management and operation of all levels of Quang Tri provincial government.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to Viettel Quang Tri and 15 individuals; the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group awarded the Emulation Flag to Viettel Quang Tri; the General Director of the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group awarded certificates of merit to 4 individuals and certificates of merit to 14 individuals.
