The closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 16th Provincial Youth and Children's Creativity Contest 2023 took place on the morning of May 20 at Nguyen Tri Phuong Secondary School, Hue City. Attending the event was Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Phan Ngoc Tho.
According to the Organizing Committee, in 2023, 164 topics were selected from 9 districts, towns, Hue City and high schools to participate in the provincial competition with 5 competition areas, including: learning supplies; computer software; environmentally friendly products; household appliances and children's toys; solutions to protect the environment, respond to climate change and develop the economy .
The Organizing Committee awarded 69 winning projects, including 1 First Prize, 7 Second Prizes, 14 Third Prizes, and 47 Consolation Prizes. The First Prize went to the group of authors Pham Tran Phuong Anh and Nguyen Dang Khoa (Tran Phu Secondary School, Hue City) with the project "Testing antibacterial and antifungal properties of guava leaf extract, preparing water to preserve vegetables and fruits, and foot bath bags". From this result, the Organizing Committee selected and introduced 22 projects to participate in the 19th National Competition in 2023.
Dr. Ho Thang, Director of the Department of Science and Technology - Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, said that this year the contest has continued to spread widely throughout districts, towns, Hue City, even to remote areas. In some schools, the contest has become a creative movement, attracting a large number of students to participate, through these activities, young scientist clubs and scientific research groups have been established at schools...
According to Mr. Thang, in general, the topics participating in this year's contest all come from practical needs, closely related to the lives, work, study and entertainment of children and adolescents.
Congratulating the winners of this contest, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Phan Ngoc Tho affirmed that the contest has created a scientific and creative playground for students. From there, it creates for them the ability to think creatively and innovatively, teamwork skills, and find scientific and technological solutions to solve problems in education and life. Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Phan Ngoc Tho hopes that the Organizing Committee of the contest will continue to innovate and create more effectively and with better quality. Students must constantly strive, study, research, and boldly create because "small innovations today will be big inventions tomorrow".
Immediately after the award ceremony, the Organizing Committee also launched the 17th Provincial Youth and Children's Creativity Contest in 2024.
The Provincial Youth and Children Creativity Contest is organized annually by the Union of Science and Technology Associations in coordination with the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Science and Technology and the Provincial Youth Union. After 16 times of organization, there have been thousands of topics participating at the grassroots, district, town and Hue City levels and more than 1,400 topics have been introduced to participate at the provincial level. Of which, 606 topics were awarded at the provincial level, 39 topics won national prizes and 3 topics won international prizes.
