Honoring digital apps that benefit the community from Laos to Indonesia.

At the ASEAN Digital Awards 2026, alongside technology products serving healthcare, the economy, and infrastructure, the Digital Inclusivity category attracted attention with the inclusion of two consumer-focused applications: LaoApp from Laos and Sapawarga Jabar Super Apps from Indonesia, two digital platforms playing a crucial role in the daily lives of people in these two countries.

LaoApp - an application serving the community in Laos.

One of the three winning products in the Digital Integration category is LaoApp - Digital Society: All-in-One Super App, developed by Star Telecom (Unitel). This application aims to build a digital ecosystem serving the diverse needs of the Lao community.

LaoApp is designed as an integrated platform offering multiple digital services in one, allowing users to access features ranging from messaging, calling, and social media to e-commerce and cloud storage, all within a single application.

Integrating services into a single application helps reduce technological barriers for users, especially those unfamiliar with multiple applications. LaoApp aims to become a digital interaction hub for both personal and professional life, aligning with the rapidly growing "super app" trend in Southeast Asia.

Beyond being just a social communication app, LaoApp has expanded to include features such as image and video sharing, entertainment services, and other digital functions, creating a diverse digital environment for Lao users amidst widespread digitalization.

Sapawarga – a one-stop application for residents of West Java

Also in the Digital Inclusion category, Sapawarga Jabar Super Apps from the Government of West Java Province (Indonesia) stands out as a "mobile public service portal" serving a wide range of citizens.

Sapawarga was developed to create a "one-stop shop" public service experience on a digital platform, integrating various features such as motorcycle tax lookup and payment, job information, public service tickets, citizen feedback reception, and other community services.

This application, developed by the West Java government, serves as a channel to bring the government closer to the people through technology, enabling citizens from all walks of life to access public services and information in a visual and convenient way. Sapawarga also supports citizens in submitting opinions and requests to authorities through the application, contributing to increased transparency and interaction between the government and citizens.

According to statistics from app platforms, Sapawarga has been downloaded more than 3.8 million times, reflecting the widespread interest and use within the West Java community.

What LaoApp and Sapawarga share is a user-centric approach: not just individual utilities, but a digital system integrated into daily experiences, from messaging, shopping, and social networking to using public services and providing feedback.

The recognition of LaoApp and Sapawarga at ADA 2026 demonstrates that the ASEAN region is expanding its vision for digital transformation not only in high-tech fields such as AI, big data, or technology infrastructure, but also in practical applications close to daily life, contributing to increasing digital penetration and narrowing the digital access gap for all segments of the population.
