Vinh Long invests in strategic transport infrastructure, expanding development space and regional connectivity

On December 9, the 10th People's Council of Vinh Long province, term 2021-2026, opened its 3rd session.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee Tran Van Lau emphasized the locality's development orientation in the new period, in which strategic transport infrastructure investment is considered a pillar to create breakthroughs, contributing to expanding development space and strengthening regional connectivity.

The Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee said that in 2025, Vinh Long will carry out its tasks in a special context when the whole province will streamline its apparatus, merge and consolidate administrative units at the commune and provincial levels according to a common roadmap. Entering 2026 - the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 1st Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030, Vinh Long aims to develop rapidly and sustainably; become a center of marine economy , a center of renewable energy production in the Mekong Delta; possess a synchronous, modern infrastructure system, and connect smoothly with localities in the region.

At the meeting, the Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee requested delegates to focus on discussing and giving opinions on 6 major groups of contents. In particular, the top priority is to promote investment in developing the socio-economic infrastructure system, especially strategic transport infrastructure, capable of creating spillover effects, inter-regional connectivity and promoting the advantages of each sub-region and each economic sector. Along with that, continue to perfect the integrated planning system, specialized planning and commune-level planning; focus on developing a synchronous transport network between roads, waterways, seaways and rivers to improve connectivity efficiency.

This session is expected to review and pass 22 important resolutions. This is the legal basis to help the People's Council, People's Committee and branches at all levels effectively implement the work of administration and management to serve the socio-economic development and ensure national defense and security of the province in the coming time.

Vinh Long promotes investment in developing economic and social infrastructure systems, especially strategic transport infrastructure.

According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, in 2025, Vinh Long will continue to achieve many positive results, completing and exceeding 21/24 main targets. Three targets that have not been achieved include: the proportion of agricultural - non-agricultural economy; social housing development; and the proportion of school-age students.

During the year, the province focused resources on many key transport projects with regional and inter-provincial connectivity. Notable projects include: Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, Dai Ngai Bridge, Ba Lai 8 Bridge, Dinh Khao Bridge, Cua Dai Bridge; National Highway 57 bypass (access road to Dinh Khao Bridge); coastal road connecting Ben Tre - Tra Vinh (now Vinh Long province) with Tien Giang (now Dong Thap). Many projects have been completed and put into operation, facilitating the transport of goods, intra-provincial and inter-provincial circulation, contributing to reducing traffic pressure and promoting regional economic development.

The 3rd session of the People's Council of Vinh Long province, term X, took place on December 9 and 10, expected to pass many important decisions, opening up a foundation for Vinh Long to make a breakthrough in the new period with the focus on strategic transport infrastructure.
