The People's Committee of Vinh Thuan Dong commune (Can Tho City) recently held a conference to assign targets for the socio -economic development plan and ensure national defense and security for 2026. Last year, the People's Committee of Vinh Thuan Dong commune achieved and exceeded 12 out of 12 targets set in the Commune People's Council Resolution on socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security. Of these, 4 targets were exceeded, including budget revenue, production value at 2010 constant prices, cooperative development, and poverty reduction; the remaining 8 targets met the planned targets.
Specifically, total state budget revenue reached 131,717 million VND, of which domestic revenue was 3,733 million VND, achieving 103.21% of the assigned target; the value of production at 2010 constant prices was estimated at 1,625,185 million VND, achieving 108.34% of the target. The commune established one new cooperative, bringing the total to 14 cooperatives and 37 cooperative groups, achieving 107.69% of the target. The poverty rate decreased to 1.12% (81 households), a reduction of 22 households compared to the beginning of 2025; the near-poverty rate was 1.96% (142 households).

In 2026, the People's Committee of the commune assigned its departments, units, and hamlets to implement 13 key targets for socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security. These include: a target of 202,551 million VND in total state budget revenue; a target of 1,665,000 million VND in production value at 2010 constant prices; the establishment of one new cooperative and four private enterprises, while maintaining 37 cooperative groups; a reduction in the poverty rate to 0.97% (70 households) and the near-poverty rate to 1.34% (97 households). Simultaneously, the commune will continue to maintain and uphold the criteria for new rural development, build advanced new rural areas; complete the target for selecting and recruiting citizens for military service; maintain security and order, prevent the emergence of "hot spots," and strive to achieve the standard of a "drug-free" commune-level administrative unit.
In her directive speech at the conference, Ms. Dao Thi Loan Anh requested that all departments, units, and hamlets promptly implement the assigned targets from the beginning of the year; promote the role and responsibility of the leaders; strengthen coordination, and promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles during the implementation process. The Chairwoman of the Commune People's Committee assigned the Economic Department to proactively advise, monitor, and urge the progress of implementing socio-economic development targets, and propose appropriate and effective solutions.

On this occasion, many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the development of health insurance and voluntary social insurance; who have received the title of advanced worker and successfully completed their tasks in 2025 were awarded certificates of commendation by the Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune.
