On December 1, information from the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) said that the classic ballet The Nutcracker will return on December 5, 6 and 7 at the City Theater.
Based on the story by ETA Hoffmann, The Nutcracker tells the magical journey of a young girl named Clara and her soldier, a nutcracker who turns into a prince in her dreams, taking her through the battles and magical landscapes of the Candy Kingdom.

The HBSO production, which bears the distinctive mark of Norwegian choreographer Johanne Jakhelln Constant, has won over audiences over the years, especially children.
Contributing to the appeal of the play is the classical music of composer Tchaikovsky. The famous suite is considered the soul of the work, in which Pas De Deux is considered the most beautiful piece of music in the ballet and one of Tchaikovsky's masterpieces.
The elegant, emotional music, opened by a cello part, is repeated several times with increasing intensity, creating an emotional climax.
The structure of the play remains faithful to the original. Act 1 opens with a gentle Overture, telling the story of a young girl named Clara who receives a wooden nutcracker as a gift on Christmas Eve. As she falls asleep under the Christmas tree, Clara enters a dream where the Nutcracker transforms into a prince and confronts the Mouse King.
Act 2 takes the audience to the glittering Candy Kingdom, where the Sugarplum Fairy and festive dances welcome Clara. The adventure ends when she wakes up, realizing it was all just a beautiful dream.
The highlight of the production is the live performance by the HBSO Symphony Orchestra and HBSO Women's Chorus, which brings a realistic and emotional sound.
The entire musical performance will be led by Dr. Conductor Le Ha My, who will act as a link between the stage, artists and audience, promising to be a lively musical experience in the true spirit of Tchaikovsky.
In this re-performance, the play will feature talented artists: Do Hoang Khang Ninh (Clara and the Sugarplum Fairy), Le Tuan Anh (The Nutcracker), Le Duc Anh (The Knight), Chika Tatsumi (The Snow Queen), La Man Nhi (The Dewdrop), Dang Minh Hien (Mr. Drosselmeyer) along with students from Salsa Ballet.
