Immediately after the incident, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Vinh Long province and local authorities came to survey and discuss temporary solutions to stop the tide as soon as possible.

Recently, Thanh Long islet has had many landslides, causing the dike along the islet to break, seriously affecting people's lives and production, especially fruit orchards.

Most recently, at the end of October, a landslide occurred at Thanh Long Islet, causing a dike break and widespread flooding. On October 27, a working delegation of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, led by Mr. Tran Van Lau, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, went directly to the scene to inspect and direct solutions. After listening to the opinions and wishes of the people, Mr. Tran Van Lau requested the Provincial People's Committee and relevant agencies to urgently develop a plan to relocate 6 households in high-risk areas to the mainland to live, ensuring the safety of life, property and long-term livelihoods.

On November 10, 2025, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province announced an emergency situation of landslides on the Thanh Long islet dike. Previously, due to high tides, a 15m dike broke and caused dangerous landslides along 225m, threatening 15ha of fruit trees and 6 households. In the long term, solid construction measures are needed to protect Thanh Long islet from the risk of losing land due to landslides.
