Exactly 40 years since the long story Before the final round was published at Mang Non Publishing House (the predecessor of Tre Publishing House) with 20,000 printed copies, Tre Publishing House organized the exchange event Growing up with Nguyen Nhat Anh's books on the morning of May 11, at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street.

At the event, writer Nguyen Nhat Anh and representatives of Tre Publishing House shared stories about the process of writing and making books.

We are also loved by Anh.

Throughout nearly half a century of writing, writer Nguyen Nhat Anh has created a world that is both dreamy and realistic, where children can live their childhood to the fullest.

The characters in his stories over the years have become close friends in the journey of maturity of many generations of readers.

In 2005, writer Nguyen Nhat Anh was entered into the Vietnam Book of Records as the writer who wrote the most stories for teenagers in Vietnam.

When she was still the director and editor-in-chief of Tre Publishing House, Ms. Quach Thu Nguyet said that she accompanied writer Nguyen Nhat Anh to write two books, I am Beto and Give me a ticket to childhood, which were well received by many readers:

"They all had huge circulations, with each reprint reaching tens of thousands of copies. At that time, our brothers in the book industry jokingly said to each other: We have a 'golden goose'.

That shows that Anh Anh's simple stories about childhood, adolescence, and family have touched the common values of readers. They see their own lives in his stories. That is how Anh Anh's works stay forever in the hearts of every reader."

"For a long time, we often say that we are the 'midwives' of book authors, but in fact, thanks to writers like Nguyen Nhat Anh, we are also loved by readers," Ms. Nguyet expressed her thoughts after recalling the time she met a soldier on Truong Sa island who was a "hardcore fan" of Nguyen Nhat Anh.

After learning that Ms. Nguyet was the "driver" of Tre Publishing House, the unit that produced his idol's books, the soldier came to take pictures, connect with her, and was so happy that he... forgot to eat.

Former director and editor-in-chief of Tre Publishing House (2009-2019) Nguyen Minh Nhut and former director and editor-in-chief of Tre Publishing House Quach Thu Nguyet (2003-2009) shared at the event.

Nguyen Nhat Anh's books have been translated into many languages.

According to former director and editor-in-chief of Tre Publishing House Nguyen Minh Nhut, the novel Before the Final Round by Nguyen Nhat Anh, although published 40 years ago, is still reprinted every year.

"Nguyen Nhat Anh's works have transcended the barriers of time and space. They have been well received by domestic and international readers," said Mr. Minh Nhut.

Some of Nguyen Nhat Anh's books have been translated into many languages: English, Russian, Thai, Korean, Japanese such as: There are two cats sitting by the window, Sitting on the tree crying, Wishing you a good day, Blue eyes, I see yellow flowers on the green grass ...

Gia Bao (9 years old, Binh Tan) is the youngest reader to attend the exchange event with writer Nguyen Nhat Anh. His mother, Cuc Huynh, confided:

"Bao was not good at literature in the past. To solve this problem, he listened to audiobooks of Uncle Anh's stories almost every day.

Reading Uncle Anh's books, in addition to supporting his studies, Bao applied many of the characters' civilized behaviors and stories into his life and he became a more emotional boy.

The presence and companionship of readers over the years has become a great source of motivation in Nguyen Nhat Anh's creative journey. He recalls happy memories when he went to exchange and sign books in Thailand.

"Like Vietnamese readers, Thai readers lined up in long, very large, and very orderly lines to receive autographs. But what made me sweat was that they also wanted to write their names in the book as a souvenir, but the Thai language is as crooked as noodles, so I was afraid of writing it wrong. Luckily, thanks to the interpreter, I was able to write their names smoothly.

Then on the way to the airport to return home, I saw the book Give Me a Ticket to Childhood on sale at the airport book counter and a Thai reader picked up the book and examined it very carefully. Although I didn't know if they bought it or not, when I saw it, I was very touched and proud" - Nguyen Nhat Anh happily recounted.
