VTV9 broadcasts free of charge 4 top European football tournaments

(NLDO) - After more than a week of planning, VTV9 became the only national television channel with the copyright to broadcast Europe's top football tournaments.

With the approval of the General Director of Vietnam Television, Vietnam Television Center in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam Cable Television Corporation (VTVcab) officially announced the cooperation agreement to exploit broadcasting copyrights for European men's football tournaments, including Serie A (Italy), Ligue 1 (France), UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League, starting from November 2025.

The event marks a step of cooperation between Vietnam Television Center in Ho Chi Minh City (VTV9) and VTVcab, aiming to promote the strengths of content, copyright and production of sports programs in the Vietnam Television system.

With this agreement, VTV9 becomes the only national television channel (free broadcast) in Vietnam currently with the copyright to broadcast the top European football tournaments. This is an important cooperation that helps audiences nationwide have the opportunity to access prestigious tournaments easily, conveniently and completely free of charge on national television.

Coach Le Huynh Duc commented: "Access to information on top European tournaments is an opportunity for Vietnamese coaches and players to gain experience and improve their professional skills. Football is always developing and new in tactics. Professionals like us really need information about developed football backgrounds to apply to our profession. In addition, Vietnamese football fans also have more opportunities to experience and enjoy top European tournaments."

In the coming time, Serie A and Ligue 1 matches are expected to be broadcast on the weekend and Monday morning (Vietnam time), from 9:00 p.m. The UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League will be broadcast live from 10:30 p.m., 00:45 a.m. and 03:00 a.m. (Vietnam time).

The first match will be broadcast on VTV9 at 9:00 p.m. on November 22, 2025 between Udinese and Bologna (Round 12 of Serie A). Viewers can also watch the full match on VTVcab sports channels (ON Football, ON Sports, ON Sports News, ON Sport+, ON Golf) and the VTVprime application.

VTV9 and VTVcab are also completing preparations to cooperate in exploiting UEFA Champions League copyright.

In parallel with broadcasting the matches live, the Vietnam Television Center in Ho Chi Minh City will produce pre- and mid-match commentary programs, interactive mini-games and behind-the-scenes sports sections, with a strong Southern style - friendly, cheerful and creative.

These are not just simple sports programs, but also cultural playgrounds, where fans can live in a vibrant football atmosphere, connect and share passion according to VTV9's very own "taste".

Expanding the Vision – Aiming for the UEFA Champions League

Not stopping there, the two units are also completing preparations to cooperate in exploiting the copyright of the UEFA Champions League - the most prestigious tournament in Europe - expected in March 2026.

This demonstrates Vietnam Television's determination to bring the world's top sports values ​​closer to Vietnamese audiences, contributing to improving the quality of national sports content in the context of strong digital media development.
