The Vietnamese Consulate General in Hong Kong (China) said that as of the morning of November 27, there had been no information about Vietnamese victims in the apartment fire in Tai Po district.
Latest figures show the fire has killed at least 44 people, injured 62, of whom 17 are in critical condition, and more than 200 people are still missing.
Hong Kong police have arrested three people in charge of the engineering company involved in the building's repair and maintenance, including two directors and one technical consultant.
During the firefighting and search and rescue process, police discovered that the building's outer walls had protective nets, waterproof tarpaulins, and plastic sheets that appeared to not meet fire safety standards.
Firefighters have now brought the flames under control in some of the seven buildings that caught fire. Firefighters expect rescue operations to continue until at least the evening of November 27.
The buildings in the complex are all over 30 stories high, with about 2,000 apartments for about 4,000 people, covered with bamboo scaffolding and green protective nets for the renovation project.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but bamboo nets and scaffolding may have been factors that caused the fire to spread in strong wind conditions./.
