Fire at battery factory in South Korea: No Vietnamese citizens injured or killed

On June 25, rescue workers found another body in the fire at a lithium battery factory in Hwaseong, 50km south of Seoul (South Korea). This is the last victim found.

Local sources confirmed to the Vietnamese Embassy in South Korea that no Vietnamese citizens were injured or killed in the fire. Of the 23 people killed, 17 were Chinese, 5 were Korean, and 1 was Lao. About 100 rescue workers and many vehicles have been mobilized to search for victims over the past 2 days.

South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and instructed the Ministry of the Interior and relevant ministries to determine the cause of the fire, provide intensive treatment to the injured, quickly identify the deceased, arrange funerals and compensate for damages.
