"Korean Season" is a project spearheaded by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and implemented by the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange.
Each year, the program selects a number of countries among those with strategic partnerships with South Korea to focus on introducing Korean culture and arts, a year-long initiative. The project aims to spread and build a sustainable foundation for Korean culture and international cultural exchange.
In 2026, the project will be implemented in Vietnam and Thailand, two key cultural centers in Southeast Asia, in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam and the Korean Cultural Center in Thailand.
"Korea Season 2026" will offer audiences a diverse range of programs, from dance performances and traditional art exhibitions to festival programs and classical concerts.
Highlights include: the contemporary ballet performance “GAT” in May, the K-Live Festival in October, and an art exhibition inspired by traditional Korean materials from December to January of the following year. Additionally, in Vietnam, there will be an SM Classics Live concert in Hanoi in November, further enriching the series of cultural exchange activities here.
The innovative ballet "GAT," inspired by the gat hat, recreates the unique aesthetics of Korea through ballet, a quintessential Western art form. The work has renewed the perspective on the shape and symbolic meaning of traditional Korean headwear.
The performance boasts high artistic quality, with a production team comprised of award-winning ballet artists from Korea and internationally. Notable among them are artistic director Yun Byul and choreographer Park So-yun. Yun Byul Ballet Company is a performing arts company and company specializing in the production and performance of contemporary ballet, representing the new generation of Korean ballet.
