Dirty food incident at school in Lam Dong: Boarding kitchen has new contractor

After nearly 2 months of suspension due to the information about dirty food in schools, on November 14, nearly 1,000 students of Trung Vuong Primary School, Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat experienced free boarding meals.

On November 14th, Trung Vuong Primary School in Xuan Huong Ward, Da Lat ( Lam Dong province ) organized a "Boarding Day" to help students and parents learn more about the school's boarding program after nearly two months of suspension. On this occasion, nearly 1,000 students experienced a free boarding meal.

After nearly two months of suspension, students at Trung Vuong Primary School were able to experience a free school lunch on November 14th.

Ms. Bui Thi Thuy Hang, Deputy Principal of Trung Vuong Primary School, said that with guidance from the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward, Da Lat, the school is carrying out preparatory steps in accordance with regulations to reorganize the school's canteen, in order to meet the needs of parents and students.

Through a bidding process, An Thinh Consulting and Trading Services Joint Stock Company (An Thinh Company, Hanoi ) won the contract to provide lunch services for students at Trung Vuong Primary School.

A representative from An Thinh Company stated that they have invested in renovating the kitchen and purchasing additional equipment, tables, chairs, and food trays to serve the boarding students of Trung Vuong Primary School.

Regarding the food supply for the school canteen, the company representative stated that they have surveyed and signed contracts with food suppliers who have licenses and certificates for food supply.

At noon on November 14th, the atmosphere in the cafeteria of Trung Vuong Primary School became lively again after nearly two months of temporary closure. Nearly 1,000 students were divided into two groups to enjoy dishes such as fried chicken, french fries, spaghetti, and a banana for dessert.

Many parents praised the lunch served on November 14th, noting that it was presented in clean trays and the food looked appealing. Mr. Tran Duy T. (a parent of a 4th-grade student) stated that parents hope the school will closely manage and supervise the school's lunch program to ensure students always receive delicious and safe meals.

According to Bui Thi Thuy Hang, the cost of a student's lunch at the boarding school is 30,000 VND per person. This includes 22,000 VND for the main meal, 2,000 VND for fruit or dessert, and 6,000 VND for a carton of milk or a snack (excluding service fees).

According to Ms. Hang, more than 630 students have registered for the school's lunch program so far. The school's lunch program officially started operating on November 17th.

As Thanh Nien newspaper reported, on the evening of September 15th, a complaint appeared on social media alleging that the principal of Trung Vuong Primary School contracted to supply contaminated food to the school's cafeteria. On September 16th, the Lam Dong Provincial Police, along with relevant authorities from Xuan Huong Ward, Da Lat City, went directly to the school to verify the allegations.

On the evening of September 18th, Mr. Nguyen Mau Ha, Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward, Da Lat, presided over a confrontation between Ms. Nguyen Thai Quynh Nga, Principal of Trung Vuong Primary School, and parents.

On September 20th, Trung Vuong Primary School announced the temporary suspension of its school lunch program starting September 22nd due to suppliers simultaneously ceasing food deliveries, leaving the school without an alternative source.

On September 24th, the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward, Da Lat City, issued a decision to temporarily suspend Ms. Nguyen Thai Quynh Nga from her duties for 15 days to facilitate the verification and investigation of information regarding contaminated food in the school's canteen. On October 13th, the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward, Da Lat City, extended the temporary suspension for another 15 days.

Currently, Ms. Nga is on leave and has not yet returned to work at the school.
