Dirty food incident at school in Lam Dong: Boarding kitchen has new contractor

After nearly 2 months of suspension due to the information about dirty food in schools, on November 14, nearly 1,000 students of Trung Vuong Primary School, Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat experienced free boarding meals.

On November 14, Trung Vuong Primary School, Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat ( Lam Dong ) organized a "Boarding Day" for students and parents to learn more about the school's boarding activities after nearly 2 months of suspension. On this occasion, nearly 1,000 students of the school experienced free boarding meals.

After nearly 2 months of suspension, students of Trung Vuong Primary School experienced a free lunch on November 14.

Ms. Bui Thi Thuy Hang, Vice Principal of Trung Vuong Primary School, said that under the guidance of the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat, the school carried out preparations in accordance with regulations to reorganize the boarding kitchen, in order to meet the needs of parents and students.

Through bidding, An Thinh Consulting and Trading Services Joint Stock Company (An Thinh Company, Hanoi ) won the bid to serve boarding meals for students of Trung Vuong Primary School.

An Thinh Company representative said that they have invested in renovating the kitchen, purchasing additional equipment, tables, chairs, and trays to serve boarding meals for 1,000 students of Trung Vuong Primary School.

Regarding food sources for the boarding kitchen, the company representative said that they have surveyed and signed contracts with food suppliers with licenses and certificates for food supply.

At noon on November 14, the atmosphere at the Trung Vuong Primary School cafeteria was lively again after nearly 2 months of suspension. Nearly 1,000 students were divided into 2 groups to enjoy dishes such as fried chicken, french fries, spaghetti and a banana for dessert.

Many parents commented that the lunch portion on November 14 was presented in clean trays and the dishes were attractive. Mr. Tran Duy T. (parent of a 4th grader) said that parents hope the school will closely manage and monitor boarding activities so that students can always eat well and ensure food hygiene and safety.

Bui Thi Thuy Hang said that the boarding students' meals cost 30,000 VND/portion. Of which, the main meal costs 22,000 VND, fruit or dessert costs 2,000 VND, and a box of milk or cake for a snack costs 6,000 VND (not including service charges).

According to Ms. Hang, up to now, there are more than 630 students registered for boarding meals. From November 17, the school's boarding kitchen officially opened.

As Thanh Nien reported, on the evening of September 15, a complaint appeared on social media accusing the Principal of Trung Vuong Primary School of contracting to bring dirty food into the boarding kitchen. On September 16, Lam Dong Provincial Police and the authorities of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat directly went to the school to verify.

On the evening of September 18, Mr. Nguyen Mau Ha, Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat, chaired the confrontation between Ms. Nguyen Thai Quynh Nga, Principal of Trung Vuong Primary School and parents.

On September 20, Trung Vuong Primary School announced that it would temporarily suspend boarding meals from September 22 because suppliers had stopped delivering food, leaving the school without an alternative source.

On September 24, the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat issued a decision to temporarily suspend Ms. Nguyen Thai Quynh Nga from work for 15 days to serve the process of verifying and investigating information about dirty food in the school's boarding kitchen. On October 13, the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat extended the temporary suspension for Ms. Nga for another 15 days.

Up to now, Ms. Nga is on leave and has not returned to work at school.
