Dirty food incident at school in Lam Dong: Boarding kitchen reopens

After nearly 2 months of suspension due to information about dirty food entering schools, the boarding kitchen of Trung Vuong Primary School (Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat, Lam Dong) resumed operations on November 17.

On November 12, many parents whose children study at Trung Vuong Primary School said they had just received a notice that the boarding kitchen at Trung Vuong Primary School would resume operations from November 17. The notice was signed by Ms. Bui Thi Thuy Hang, Vice Principal of the school.

According to the announcement, based on the actual situation and the needs of parents, after a temporary suspension to repair, upgrade and complete the kitchen facilities, Trung Vuong Primary School will reorganize boarding activities for students. The boarding program will start from November 17, 2025, taking place from 10:30 to 13:30, applied from Monday to Thursday every week.

According to the Board of Directors of Trung Vuong Primary School, the school's kitchen and dining room have been renovated and fully equipped, meeting hygiene and food safety standards. The menu is scientifically designed, ensuring nutrition, safety and suitability for students' ages.

During the boarding process, the school strengthens inspection and supervision of food processing and storage procedures and strictly implements regulations to ensure absolute safety for students.

Parents register their students for boarding before November 14, through the homeroom teacher of the class so that the school can arrange and organize carefully.

In addition to the official announcement, parents also received some photos and videos recording the lunch experience session at noon on November 11. During this session, representatives of the Executive Committee of the parents' association of each class and some students directly tried the meal, observed the portion size and quality of the food served to the students.

As Thanh Nien reported, on the evening of September 15, a complaint appeared on social media accusing the Principal of Trung Vuong Primary School of contracting to bring dirty food into the boarding kitchen. On September 16, Lam Dong Provincial Police and the authorities of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat directly went to the school to verify.

On September 20, Trung Vuong Primary School announced that it would temporarily suspend boarding meals from September 22 because suppliers had stopped delivering food, leaving the school without an alternative source.

Then, on September 24, the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat issued a decision to temporarily suspend Ms. Nguyen Thai Quynh Nga, Principal of Trung Vuong Primary School, for 15 days to serve the process of verifying and investigating information about dirty food in the school's boarding kitchen. On October 13, the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat extended the temporary suspension for Ms. Nga for another 15 days.

Speaking to Thanh Nien reporter on November 11, Ms. Phan Thi Xuan Thao, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat, said that the temporary suspension period for Ms. Nguyen Thai Quynh Nga, Principal of Trung Vuong Primary School, has ended. However, Ms. Nga has not yet been allowed to go to work, and the school's operations have been assigned to a vice principal.

Regarding Ms. Nga, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat are conducting a parallel disciplinary process on the Party and government side because of violations in school management and the case of dirty food in the boarding school kitchen.
