Buckwheat flower season is in full bloom all over Lung Cu, combined with favorable weather, making Lo Lo Chai crowded, with visitors jostling to get to the beautiful photo spots, delicious restaurants, and coffee shops.
Mr. Hoang Hieu (25 years old, Ha Giang ) - a tour guide, said that the number of visitors to Lo Lo Chai this weekend is much larger than during the Lunar New Year - the peach blossom season. According to Mr. Hieu, the number of visitors to the village has increased sharply since it was honored by the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) as "The best tourist village in the world 2025" in October.
"The place is crowded from the beginning of the week to the end of the week, always crowded with people and vehicles. At famous photo spots, tourists wait in line for hours. I often have to find 'little-known' places to take customers to check-in," said Mr. Hieu.
Finding a room to stay and booking food and beverage services in the village has also become more difficult because of the large number of visitors. "This weekend I brought 6 visitors to the village. The quietest time in the village is early morning and after 10pm," said Mr. Hieu.
Ms. Ha Thuy Dung ( Hai Phong ) shared that although she had searched 10 days in advance, she was unable to book a room for a weekend stay in Lo Lo Chai. The female tourist and her close friend could only visit the village for the day, lining up to take photos with the early blooming peach trees and the fruit-laden persimmon trees.
"The village is as crowded as the city. I'm a bit sorry for coming when it's so crowded. I will definitely come back to this beautiful village to fully experience its peaceful beauty," Dung shared.
Mr. Tran Duc Chung, Chairman of Lung Cu Commune People's Committee informed that since October, the number of visitors to Lung Cu has increased sharply, about 10,000 visitors/week, even at times 12,000-15,000 visitors/week. Among them, Lo Lo Chai is the most popular place.
According to Mr. Chung, the sharp increase in the number of visitors is not only due to the effect of the title " World's Best Tourist Village 2025" but also due to the appeal of the buckwheat flower festival, plus many attractive cultural experiences organized by the locality.
In response to reports about environmental sanitation and the situation of brokers holding rooms and pushing prices 3-4 times higher than the listed price in Lo Lo Chai, Mr. Chung affirmed that Lung Cu commune immediately had a plan and took drastic corrective actions.
Lung Cu Commune People's Committee established teams to inspect tourism service prices at homestays, requiring all 62 homestay businesses in Lo Lo Chai to publicly disclose prices to help tourists avoid being "pickpocketed" during their stay.
It is known that the village currently has 62 recognized homestay businesses, with a maximum capacity of serving 1,000 guests per night. Therefore, finding a room to stay on weekends becomes difficult. Visitors can choose to stay in the nearby Then Pa village.
Lo Lo Chai village is located at the foot of Lung Cu flagpole - the northernmost point of the country. The whole village has more than 120 households, mainly Lo Lo people. The houses in Lo Lo Chai are all made of rammed earth, ranging in age from a few decades to more than 200 years.
Coming to Lo Lo Chai, visitors will be immersed in the life of the Lo Lo ethnic people. They can participate in activities such as weaving linen, growing corn, making traditional wine, and enjoying specialties such as thang co, smoked buffalo meat, bamboo rice, and corn wine.
The end of the year and the beginning of the year are the ideal times to explore Lo Lo Chai. However, visitors should also consider not to come when it is too crowded.
