The video shows a kumquat grower carefully tending to the plants while waiting for harvest day.

These days, the road leading to the flower-growing village in Binh Khe ward, Quang Ninh province, is bustling with people and vehicles coming and going to buy flowers to supply the market for the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026.

According to Tien Phong newspaper , Binh Khe village is the main flower and ornamental plant growing area in western Quang Ninh province, with an area of approximately 250 hectares.

These days, the flower gardens here are ablaze with color and bustling with buyers and sellers.

A kumquat tree grower is urgently recounting the number of trees and finalizing prices with traders over the phone to report the quantity of trees to be harvested.

According to Ms. Bui Thi Huong, the owner of the orchard, this year's kumquats are yielding a good harvest, with large and beautiful fruits. "My family mainly grows ornamental kumquats, peach blossoms, and a few gladiolus flowers. Currently, traders have already bought almost all of the kumquats in the orchard," Ms. Huong said.

Meanwhile, in some other ornamental plant nurseries, traders are actively driving their trucks directly to the fields to load up goods and distribute them to markets throughout the country.

To produce the highest quality products for the Tet market, flower growers in Binh Khe have to invest a lot of effort into their main flower varieties, especially traditional ornamental plants like peach blossoms and kumquats.

The owner of the orchard in the photo looks happy after securing a sale for half of his kumquat trees early. Compared to previous years, traders came to the orchard earlier this year, and although the price is slightly lower than retail, it saves him the worry of costs such as renting space or hiring labor to transport the trees to the spring flower market.

Many families set up makeshift shelters and mobilized the whole family to take turns guarding and harvesting ornamental plants in the garden.

According to one kumquat orchard owner, selling an entire orchard of 400 trees brings in around 170 million VND, including approximately 12 million VND for labor costs to dig up the trees, and about 70 million VND for pesticides, fertilizers, and seedlings. On average, this year the orchard owner earns a profit of about 100 million VND.

"We practice intercropping on the plots of land to ensure the highest possible yield. After harvesting, this kumquat orchard will be converted to growing jicama, and we only import new varieties to plant once a year," shared Ms. Nguyen Thi Duyen, a local kumquat grower with 6 years of experience.

Representatives from the People's Committee of Binh Khe ward shared that some types of flowers and ornamental plants occupy large areas, such as kumquats, gladiolus, and peach blossoms, which are grown intensively in the villages of Quang Man, Trai Doc, and Dong Do... with more than 500 households involved in cultivation. Flower cultivation also yields higher income compared to many other crops, averaging 200 million VND/hectare/year, and some flower fields even generate 400-500 million VND/hectare/year.

Furthermore, in recent years, Binh Khe has emerged as a center for cultivating Yen Tu yellow apricot blossoms, a distinctive tree of the Yen Tu mountain region in Dong Trieu. Each tree is priced from several million to several hundred million dong. The apricot blossom tree in the photo is being sold by the owner for over 100 million dong, bringing a substantial income to the farmers.

From the flower-growing village of Binh Khe, trucks transport flowers to spring flower markets throughout Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Hanoi , Hung Yen, and other provinces. With the initiative of the people and support from the government, the Binh Khe flower-growing region is ready to bring the colors of spring to every home, promising a warm and prosperous Tet holiday for the hardworking people.
