Standing on the hilltop, one can gaze out at the vast, beautiful, and peaceful orchards. This place was originally called "Uncle Ho's Hill of Trees".
This project originated during the years of the resistance war against the US, and was developed by local people and youth who jointly cleared the land, planted trees, and cared for the trees, contributing to greening the barren land and hillsides in accordance with President Ho Chi Minh's teachings. After President Ho Chi Minh passed away, in 1970, the hill was affectionately called "President Ho Chi Minh's Fruit Garden" as a way for the people to express their profound gratitude to him.

The temple dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh is located on the highest point in the "President Ho Chi Minh Orchard". |
Following the stone steps leading up to the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Temple, visitors can easily notice the 79 steps, symbolizing the 79 springs of President Ho Chi Minh's life. This simple yet meaningful detail has become a unique feature, transforming the garden into a cultural and spiritual space imbued with the people's affection for him. Many high-ranking leaders of the Party and State have visited and planted trees in the "Ho Chi Minh Fruit Garden".
Having spent a long time tending his orchards, Mr. Nguyen Van Soai (70 years old), a resident of Trai Ba neighborhood, Phuong Son ward, has many memories. For him, each flowering season and each harvest of ripe fruit not only brings economic value but also reminds him of President Ho Chi Minh's simple advice on planting trees and reforestation. This work has significantly contributed to improving the lives of the people. Over the years, these teachings have deeply permeated the thinking and practices of the people in the region.
| To maximize the significance of the project, the construction of the central park of Luc Ngan district (formerly), phase 1, associated with the "Uncle Ho's Fruit Garden" area, was launched in 2024 with a budget of 45 billion VND. To date, a new space is gradually taking shape. On an area of over 7 hectares, many items have been completed, such as: the square, internal roads, lighting system, agricultural product display area, model gardens, etc. |
Mentioning the name Luc Ngan, even after administrative adjustments, many people still remember it as a famous fruit-growing region in the country. On the once barren hillsides of the former Luc Ngan district, now covered in the green of lychees, apples, guavas, and high-quality citrus fruits, all creating a vast "fruit basket".
In particular, Luc Ngan lychees have long become a famous agricultural brand, present in many demanding markets such as Japan, the United States, Australia, and France. From a crop grown spontaneously, lychees are now produced according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, applying high technology and traceable using planting area codes.
Many households earn hundreds of millions to billions of dong annually from orchard farming. This reality is vivid evidence of the effectiveness of sound policies in developing commercial agriculture . In this journey, "Uncle Ho's Fruit Garden" stands as a microcosm of the entire Luc Ngan region, home to many distinctive fruit tree varieties.
Today, "Uncle Ho's Orchard" has become a significant site for traditional education . According to Comrade Hoang Duc Cuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuong Son Ward: After the administrative merger, "Uncle Ho's Orchard" was handed over to the local authorities for management. Every spring, agencies and schools in the ward organize incense offerings at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Temple, report their achievements to Uncle Ho, and launch the Tet Tree Planting campaign.
The students' lively footsteps on the pathways and their outdoor activities amidst nature have helped them better understand Uncle Ho's teachings. Lessons about love for their homeland, for the hills, mountains, and fields have become more relatable than ever. No longer just dry textbooks, they have witnessed firsthand the changes in their hometown, gaining a deeper understanding of the value of labor and the importance of environmental protection.

Newly planted trees, widened pathways, and gradually emerging community spaces promise to attract many tourists. After the project is completed (expected in September this year), Phuong Son ward will hand it over to the ward's Public Service Center for operation and management.
Over time, "Uncle Ho's Orchard" has always been a symbol of the close bond between the Party and the people, of the spirit of diligent and creative labor, and of faith in the right path of development. May has arrived again in Bac Ninh province. The lychee clusters are beginning to turn red, and in that warm, abundant color, we see the image of the hardworking and creative farmers, the companionship of the Party committee and government, the support of science and technology. And above all, the light of President Ho Chi Minh's ideology guides and directs the way.
