Fear of missing out (FOMO) is the fear of missing out on the exciting things in life that other people are experiencing.

People with FOMO are prone to depression and frustration because they feel their lives are boring and dull. For young people, FOMO syndrome makes them lack concentration in work and study because they are always distracted by surfing the web and social networks.

Here are some ways to help you get rid of this syndrome:

Build a healthy lifestyle

Spend more time for yourself, do things you like: reading books, listening to music, playing sports ... Maintain a healthy schedule, eat on time, get enough sleep, exercise... Limit the time spent using social networks and smartphones.

Take care of your health

Acknowledging your fear of missing out and monitoring your negative thoughts are also ways to combat FOMO. You can practice mindfulness to help you focus more on whatever you want to do in the present moment.

Set boundaries with social media

Turn off notifications from unnecessary social media apps. Keep your phone out of your bedroom and other places where you need to concentrate. Delete distracting and time-wasting apps.

Find joy in simple things

Be grateful for what you have instead of being jealous of others. Focus on the present, enjoy every moment.

Looking for connections

Feeling lonely and isolated is your brain’s way of telling you: It’s time to seek authentic connections, to feel connected, to express yourself, and to share. Social media is not a good way to find and fill those gaps.

Instead of trying to network with a bunch of people on social media, why not arrange to meet someone in person? Making plans with a connected individual or group is a great change of pace that helps you forget that feeling of “missing out.”

Focus on gratitude

Studies show that practicing gratitude, such as journaling or simply telling others what you appreciate about them, can lift your spirits as well as those of those around you.

This helps you forget about what is lacking in your life and focus on what you have. Having an uplifting and grateful spirit will help you relieve the feelings of depression and anxiety that you are experiencing.

You may not care about other people's success when you realize how much you have and what you have achieved. This is great for your mental and emotional health.

Set goals

Most people with the fear of missing out do not have a clear purpose in life. They act and work vaguely, sometimes lacking confidence in themselves. Therefore, they are easily influenced by the decisions and opinions of people around them, especially those who have achieved success.

Therefore, to quickly eliminate fear and limit making wrong decisions, the best way is to make a specific plan and set goals for your life.
