Notably, thousands of students traveled hundreds of kilometers from the former Binh Phuoc province, now part of Dong Nai province, to attend this major event, which offered a wealth of useful information and engaging activities.

I WAKE UP AFTER 3 AM

Many students woke up as early as 3:30 a.m. to attend the opening ceremony, such as Bui Thao My and Doan My Phuong, both 12th-grade students from Dong Xoai High School in Binh Phuoc Ward, a school located about 90 km from the exam counseling center, not including the long journey they had to make from home to school.

"The bus carrying us left the school at 4:15 AM and arrived after more than two hours. I'm interested in public relations, and today I received enthusiastic and in-depth advice from teachers from various universities such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology, Hong Bang International University, Gia Dinh University, Van Hien University, etc., regarding what the industry requires of applicants, tuition fees, and admission requirements. Thanks to that, I understand better and no longer have any doubts about my plans," Phuong shared. This is even more special because previously, the female student did not have the opportunity to ask for related information at smaller-scale events organized at her school.

Similarly, Thao My said that after participating in the program, she had more information to consider when choosing between the Chinese language major that her parents suggested and the hotel and restaurant management major that she loves.

Meanwhile, Le Ngoc Linh, a 12th-grade student from Minh Hung Secondary and High School in Minh Hung Ward, said she woke up at 4 a.m. to prepare. Upon arriving at the exam season counseling event at 8 a.m., she immediately sought information about economics and business administration from representatives of various universities and colleges attending the event.

Linh added that after receiving advice, she had clearly identified two paths for herself: one was to apply to the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, and the other was to apply to the College of Foreign Trade Economics, also in Ho Chi Minh City. "Overall, I was very surprised because I didn't think so many schools would participate in the event," Linh confided.

Also departing at 4 a.m. because the school is more than 80 km from the event venue, Ms. La Xuan Mai, a teacher at Nguyen Binh Khiem Secondary and High School in Nha Bich commune, shared that she and her students had traveled a long distance to get there. Notably, the group consisted of only about 30 students – all of whom are academically strong and well-behaved, and who proactively registered to receive more in-depth career counseling. "The students were very excited to participate in the event," Ms. Mai said, expressing her gratitude for the organizers providing free lunch for the teachers and students.

IT 'S NEVER TOO LATE TO LEARN

Also on the opening day yesterday, students received many helpful pieces of advice from various guest speakers, including musician Nguyen Van Chung, author of "Continuing the Story of Peace," "The Pain Amidst Peace," and "Mother's Diary ." The musician shared that his determination to continue his university studies and his successful admission to a regular university program in music education at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music in November 2025 at the age of 42 will hopefully inspire and encourage students that it's never too late to learn. "A solid foundation is needed to jump high"; "If you study proactively, know why you're studying, study with purpose and goals, you'll be more likely to succeed in life," were some of the musician's messages. He also suggested that students today have many channels to access advice on choosing majors and future careers, such as exam season counseling programs, so they should "take advantage" of this valuable opportunity.

Notably, hundreds of students gathered around the booths of study abroad consulting agencies and American schools with representatives in Vietnam. The students were interested in the skills and important considerations for prospective students wishing to study abroad in the new context – where visa policies in many countries are changing, AI is becoming increasingly prevalent, and job opportunities in many countries are becoming more limited.
