In mid-October, Microsoft officially "killed" Windows 10, and hoped that this would encourage users to switch to the Windows 11 operating system.
However, what Microsoft did not expect was that many users abandoned Windows and switched to using the Linux operating system.

Accordingly, the developers of Zorin OS, a computer operating system based on open source Linux, said their latest release - Zorin OS 18 - has achieved more than one million downloads in the past month, 78% of which came from Windows users.
The reason why many Windows 10 users choose Zorin OS to use is because this is an operating system that is highly appreciated by the technology community thanks to its easy-to-use interface, does not require a very strong computer configuration and especially this operating system is released completely free.
In particular, Zorin OS 18 has a Windows-like interface, making it easy for users to get acquainted and use, even for those who are new to the Linux operating system. Zorin OS 18 is also optimized to help users respond faster, even on low-configuration computers.
Developers say Zorin OS 18 is designed to optimize the performance of online applications (applications that run on the web, do not need to be installed on the computer), including services such as Office 365, Teams, Google Docs or Photoshop Web... all of which are familiar software for Windows users.
Zorin OS 18 also integrates Microsoft's OneDrive service, making it easy for users to store data online.
The Zorin OS 18 development team said that this operating system is a long-term support version, which will be supported with software upgrades and patches until at least 2029, helping users feel secure in sticking with it for the long term.
Another advantage of Zorin OS 18 in particular and Linux operating systems in general is that there is much less malware, malicious code... than Windows or macOS.
The features on Zorin OS 18 show that the development team of this operating system is targeting the group of Windows 10 users who are having to choose a new version of the operating system to use.
The biggest drawback of Linux operating system versions is that the number of software is still limited and not as diverse as on Windows or macOS. Installing and playing games on Linux is also not easy.
It is currently unknown how many Windows 10 users switched to Zorin OS 18 out of curiosity, because they wanted to try an alternative to Windows 11, or because they really intended to stick with it for the long term. However, the free launch of Zorin OS 18 and its friendly interface certainly opens up another option worth considering for those who are bored with the familiar Windows operating system.
